Lots of scarves...! Halstuch...! echarpes..! However you wish to translate this (although my translation may be wrong but you get the giste) there are lots of them here at Liberty in London. Yet again the team have produced the most amazing scheme based around just a few items. I adore the schemes here at this store and stand mesmerised by the teams ingenuity and creativity. As always with this store, these guys need much bigger windows in order to shine even brighter. While this is hardly going to happen we sadly have to make do with these tiny spaces that contain creativity that's ready to burst out on to the street. The bohemian feel to this scheme with some vintage figures displaying the merchandise couldn't be more appropriate. After what seems like months of Sale schemes and the recession which has gone on longer than we care to remember, this truly is a refreshing site. Many thanks guys.

Liberty, London
Wow, is it really 135 years since Liberty opened? Where did that time go, hey? Older than some countries around the world, Liberty can be held up as an excellent example of retailing. Always, at the forefront, always fun, and yet always such wonderful quality (if a little expensive however). Celebrating their 135th Year, of course could not be missed without a fun scheme installed into their windows by the creative team. Small, 'doll-like' houses with tiny cut out figures are presented to us in this scheme. Speech bubbles exclaiming "has anyone seen my shoes?", "Who puked in the flowerbed? and "the B****** dumped me!" have been applied to the glass and tonnes of paper chains and shiny silver curtains complete the scheme. Where on earth will this creative team go next? Who knows, but just watch this space.

Liberty, London
One can't help but love what Liberty is doing at the moment. Scheme after scheme they come up with the goods. This one is no exception. Model soldiers and tanks are aimed at a t-shirt with an image of an explosion printed on it - out sized by comparison to its aggressors and displayed in one of the windows in this scheme. Hundreds of ears placed in rows form the backdrop in another with product placed on top of tiny bars of soap. Repetition of newsprint declaring the "Liberated Press 2010" containing images of William Morris (I think it is anyway - I cant quite see the details on the images, but it would make sense and link to the Liberty designs) are overlaid on top of an image of a topless female. Sometimes irreverent yet always wonderfully produced, how could anyone not like what this team are doing right now?

Liberty, London
If you happen to be in town this week you must swing by Liberty and have a look at these amazing quilts designed by the very talented Maxine Groucutt. I had heard that they were in place through the grapevine and in the press and was dying to go and have a look for myself. The tourists love them and cameras were snapping away around me left right and centre. I even took my students to see them too - much to their amazement at the quality of the work here and we all got our 'Quilty pleasures' too. These tie in very nicely with the Quilts exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum which has recently opened and until 4th July. I am just salivating thinking about going. Anyway, do drop by Liberty, I can guarantee they will bring a smile to your face.

Liberty, London
While swinging past Liberty here in London tonight, I came across what are singularly the most incredibly fun windows I have seen in years. I don't say that lightly and tucked away in these tiny windows is just a glimpse of what this team can do, if they had more opportunity. (the large windows along their site on Regent had not been taken away a few years ago in favour of a more open front). I have always felt that it truly was a crime to take away this teams' main windows. Anyway, these are a huge statement based on London Fashion week, which of course is looming later this month and I just could not look at these windows without an enormous smile on my face. This truly is a wonderful two fingers up to the establishment (or whichever fingers you use depending on where you are in the world - but you know what I mean) It is bold, its fun, fun and more fun. This is what this industry is about and these windows will live on in the history of this industry - we will be talking about it for years. Thank you Maxine and your team for being daring, bringing the fun back and making London rocking again..!

Libertys, London
During my meanderings of the city streets this week I happened upon Liberty's on Regent st. here in London. I remember only just a few years ago the incredible schemes from this store when it had large windows filled to the brim with personality comparable to the mighty Selfridges, Harrods and Harvey Nichols. Sadly, these large spaces were removed in favour of a more open plan store which of course also removed the opportunity for the creative team to install large complex and detailed narratives. The team are now left with some small windows with which to exorcise their creativity, and which, of course they do incredibly well. I have been following the last few schemes recently, however, this one did bring a smile to my face on such a cold wintry evening. Large unshaven male figures in camp 'frocks' is the highlight of this scheme for me - brilliantly funny. A room set crammed full of objects reminiscent of my grandmothers at Christmas in the 1970's. Gobstoppers, Girls world, cakes......my only disappointment...no kerPlunk or buckaroo.

Libertys, London
The current scheme at Liberty's here in London have been inspired by the images of AnOther magazine, the culturally rich luxury fashion magazine which I believe is only printed twice annually. The images that the magazine print really do ooze 'Cool' and I this has been reflected very well in this current scheme. I recorded the previous scheme (below) but I could remember what the idea behind it was - I think a recent book launch. Anyway, Liberty's really are doing some exciting stuff. I particularly like how they have covered the back of the building along Carnaby street in a floral print. I can appreciate how difficult it is to get permission to do this so I take my hat of to Liberty's for achieving it. I frequently view tourists having their photograph taken in front of it so seems to keep them very happy too.
