WMF, Berlin

While we normally concentrate on what is happening in retail store windows, it is incredibly interesting how the same knowledge that we would normally apply to the high street can be seen within exhibition spaces also.  Here in Berlin, the consumer and electronics show 2019, those amazing guys at www.dfrost.com have developed this concept in conjunction with the brand WMF  (Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik) based on the phrase "Let your home shine" which highlights the unique design language of the WMF products and integrated them into this installation.

Givenchy, London

Situated in what was a part of the old Asprey and Garrard corner plot along Bond street (the Asprey store is still there of course but the brand dropped the Garrard bit some time ago) is Givenchy.  While this brand haven't done a lot in their windows, well, until now that is, we have been passing by just in case so that we could capture anything new from them.  And, just look at this scheme.  OK, it is a fairly simple looking scheme although naturally to achieve this amazing finish we're sure it took a long time to produce and we are glad that they have something which we can share with you at least.

Ralph Lauren, London

Just as we posted our last entry on this brand they changed their windows.  Back from what was quite an austere scheme and onto their usual lavish installations.  And, as usual, the brand have included a range of fabulously aspirational interior spaces which most of us will never see in life however thats just part of the wonderful illusion of retail store windows.

Prada, London

This is quite an interesting direction for this brand and quite different to what we normally see.  We are huge fans of what they do although there does appear to be a range of styles happening here which don't appear to be very consistent with the way they normally work.  Thats not to say that we would wish them to adopt an annual theme although actually this works really well for brands such as Hermes and even Anthropologie however the brand are looking slightly generic at the moment, dont you think?

Moschino, London

In their usual style, this brand have opted, as always for their usual over-the-top and larger than life props, in this case a giant slot machine fills their space at their store along Conduit street.  While this brand remains popular, well, having a store here would indicate that they are we guess, we never see anyone wearing this stuff?

Hermes, London

We have no idea what this scheme is about from one of our favourite brands for Visual Merchandising out there on the high street.  There appear to be some very odd forms used here and we cant work out the narrative in the slightest however as always this brand produce the most incredible work worldwide.

Fortnum and Mason, London

We cant quite decide how feel about the current scheme at F&M right now.  Whether we actually like it of course is quite irrelevant although we dont quite understand where they are going with this scheme.  Produced in conjunction with the Artist Zhang Enli who apparently is "searching for interior meaning in the everyday visual world" we are finding ourselves asking ourselves the same thing about this installation.  What on earth does it mean Zhang....what does all this mean?

Etro, London

This is an interesting direction for this brand.   Usually we see quite lavish schemes here and while they do tend do install some props they don't always take centre stage.  Currently the brand have installed what appears to be laser cut board  in order to produce this incredible prop of, we guess Pegasus (a mythical winged horse).

Dsquared2, London

This brand have produced some interesting schemes since they moved into this huge store along Conduit street.  Although they haven't changed their front facing windows for a while the side windows with its monochrome scheme is quite impressive.  Large graphics are the focus of this scheme, a bit reminiscent of an old style advertisement although it does look very effective in the 'flesh'.

Dolce and Gabbana, London

We seem to remember seeing this scheme in Milan during Salone although in a way, in the name of sustainability, this is possibly a good thing and perhaps like some other luxury brands, the top schemes get passed around their various flagships.  Anyway, as with Coach who we featured yesterday the brand have also included scaffolding in their scheme, only this time they also have these Monkey props complete with peeled Bananas.

Coach, London

Scaffolding seems to be a big thing around town at the moment across the luxury brands.  We've spotted all sorts of combinations, from here at Coach to Dolce and Gabbana to Burberry and all sorts of variations on the same theme.  Since this brand moved from their store along Bond street and dived into throng of Regent street, schemes have got a lot bigger and we're grateful for it.

Bulgari, London

It must be incredibly difficult to work with such small products and yet create amazing windows or narratives  around it, particularly when Tiffany always do it so well.  We have really warmed to this brand after experiencing their incredible installation during Milan design week.  Although we still don't know much about them and quite unlikely to actually buy any of their product this sand based installation is with its metallic disc and warm Orange backdrop is beautifully slick.

Akris, London

There is very little to comment on within this scheme other than to mention that the exclamation marks appear in a subtle range of tones and textures using a slightly fuzzy material.  However this is what is out there right now.

Tory Burch, London

We often see some amazing schemes at this brand who appear to heavily invest in their visual merchandising which is most welcomed.  Here we have some scrolling lines of what looks like plywood which forms the context to the product.

Monday 16 September 2019

Ralph Lauren, London

It seems that this brand have stripped everything back for this scheme right now.  We usually see very glamorous mannequins within their windows in very luxurious scenarios although perhaps their figures are currently being renovated, who knows?  Anyway, large format paintings fill the backdrop to the product here although other than that there isn't much else we can comment on.
