Jigsaw, London

With their nod to the current exhibition at the Royal Academy, Jigsaw have referenced the Painting the Modern Garden; Monet to Matisse to inform their latest installation.  A text covered mannequin, garden bench, and graffiti wall (dare we say the old cliche, and we are cringing as we do) creating a modern twist on the work of these monoliths of the Art world but this is an interesting direction for this brand and this relatively small space at their store along Argyll Street here in the centre of everything interesting.

Jigsaw, London

You know those moments when you wish you had thought of a scheme before someone else did it, well this is one of those times.  The Argyl street Jigsaw store doesn't necessarily have the best version of this concept as we fleetingly passed their larger Kings Road store which looks mightily impressive.  If you cant make out what this is, essentially this is a version of sand painting although of course on a larger scale than those you may find on your holidays to exotic or just far away places.  Thankfully no camels are included in this design but the shade of Blue is quite delicious.

Jigsaw, London

In keeping with the collaborative theme, here at Jigsaw (we normally simply glance at this brand along the street in passing) have worked in conjunction with the London based artist Aaron Dunkerton to produce this Star shaped clothes horse installation.  We are hoping that Jigsaw will continue to do interesting 'things' as it has been looking quite shabby for a while so this latest scheme is a welcomed relief for sure.

Jigsaw, London

With the Chelsea Flower show looming, parts of the Kings Road are looking blooming great. We're not huge fans of large format graphics unless they are used in a creative way or used to really change the space. Its very difficult to do very much in London with the outsides of commercial spaces, so this is one from Jigsaw with its out sized floral embedded lettering is a welcome relief from the Roman/Elizabethan/Georgian/Victorian theme park we find ourselves in.

Jigsaw, London

It was so sad to find that the the Jigsaw store along Bond Street here in London had completely gone, and so quickly too. I am guessing that this was the flagship for the brand and so many really creative ideas were coming out from this store. It is sadly typical of this credit crunch time we find ourselves in and I guess these things have to happen to keep the smaller stores afloat. I am finding more and more of these empty sites around London and it really is so sad. Thankfully, the smaller Jigsaw stores along Argyll Street and Notting Hill are alive and maybe the kind of schemes that have been produced work better on a smaller scale. Anyway, the current scheme uses these land-of-the-giants out sized cotton reels. They are quite good fun creating the illusion that the bust forms and mannequins have almost Lilliputian proportions.

Jigsaw, London

Jigsaw have been doing some great schemes over the past year of so and this is no exception. Here they have used outsized playing cards, two dimensional chess pieces, crowns and keys tumbling through the double height space. The brand are using a lot of bust forms covered in a fabric material, with articulated arms and hands, and here used in groups of three, two and one.
