Karen Millen, London

Studio XAG have worked closely with the creative team at Karen Millen to design, produce and install the latest windows at their flagship stores here in London.  Three Dimensional sculptures extend out from the exaggerated perspectives seen in the seasonal campaign imagery, creating raked floor platforms upon which mannequins are displayed alongside props borrowed from the look book scenes.  Here also is a play between textures enhanced with the concrete print continuing from the imagery on to a transparent material, and each window is framed by an asymmetrical colour pop outline.

Karen Millen, London

Karen Millen always seem to work with such sophisticated and sensitive architects with their RIBA collaborations (remember Manu Mani from last year?)  This collaboration with EKM architects 'brings the Karen Millen woman to life in an evocative snapshot of the energy and character of their atelier in London's East End'.  'Three dimensional mannequins were scanned and animated, sliced and projected to generate a feeling of movement mirroring the daily adventures of the modern urban woman'.  Think Gunthur Von Hagens Bodyworlds but without the gory bits and a whole lot more palatable.

Karen Millen, London; Guest Post by Jodie Oram

Karen Millen’s current window on Regent Street is very beautiful and almost ethereal. Although it may not be the boldest of windows, it does not need to be, as it has been executed exceptionally well with real skill and craftmanship. The forms and shapes that have been created with this installation are incredible and work brilliantly with the subtlety of the mannequins. A really exceptional window from the Karen Millen brand.  A video of this scheme can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnmsM6cCWIs

We recently included this brand (possibly for the first time ever) when they collaborated with RIBA and the Regent street project which of course was superb.  Anyway, since then it appears that the success of those amazing windows has kick started the brand into doing something a little less ordinary and and wow look at this scheme.  OK, well its not ground breaking but it is an effort and that is very much appreciated.

We don't often go to visit this brands' store along Regent st as they don't usually do anything of interest and we have to admit that only because of the RIBA collaboration we have actually been inside to take a closer look.  This incredible Magic Garden installation by the Architects Mamou-Mani is a fluid form which weaves its way across the full run of windows and illuminated from within.  Really interesting stuff.
