Butler & Wilson, London

Images Courtesy and Copyright Butler & Wilson

It really is so refreshing to see that some retailers have ditched the usual heart motifs and gone for a rather more considered approach to Valentines this year.  Here at Butler and Wilson is a 1930's inspired installation based on a poem called 'Dance as a couple'.  Using this romantic period the team here have brought a bit of nostalgia into the 21st Century with Black and White images of couples, an old typewriter, love letters and a sprinkling of their gorgeous jewellery.

Butler and Wilson, London

We haven't captured this brand in absolutely ages, possibly as their windows haven't changed for so long although we have been sending them vibes for a long time in the hope that they will do something other than sparkly skulls and necklaces.  And, here you go.  Here we have references to Asia and in particular a kind of Shanghai that never really existed.  Still, a refreshing change and the parasol light is quite impressive.

Butler and Wilson, London

We're not glitzy loving kind of guys, but we do love the merchandise at Butler and Wilson right now.  With their mannequin wearing what actually appears like an old Gaultier number but complete with feathered headdress (or warbonnet) we cant help but be drawn in.  It would be better (at least we think) if the merchandise was elevated a little higher (placed on the window floor, which is something these guys always do doesn't make this stuff particularly desirable - actually more like a wholesaler)  But anyway, we want one of these gorgeous diamante skulls.

Butler and Wilson

A few days ago, one of my regular readers asked me if I could find the Butler and Wilson Store here in London and if I would feature this store for her as she had seen a lot of their 'stuff' on QVC. She did mention how "outrageous" their jewellery was and yet, how much she thought I may be interested in reviewing it. Well here you go. Along South Molton St. here in London is their incredible store. Jewellery and these kind of accessories are notoriously difficult to present effectively, however these guys do it quite well. I am not quite sure about the use of the mannequins here, and in display dynamic terms, this doesn't work particularly well. On viewing the store, I do feel that if these guys are going to use a mannequin, then the product needs to be elevated about another 60cm to prevent the 'gap' in the products becoming the focal point within this installation. In the meantime, I love the bling merchandise and while I am unlikely to buy anything, it is a pleasure to view.
