Belstaff, London

This is a simple yet impactful scheme at Belstaff which captures the season so well and not a Christmas tree or bauble in sight.  Snow covered mountain peaks, and thats it, have been placed behind the mannequins here and perfectly allows the passerby to see into and around the interior space.  A great and original solution.

Belstaff, London

Continuing with the 'mesh/net' theme which we uploaded yesterday at Longchamp, Belstaff have created a kind of structured landscape which is reflected in the backdrop image.  We don't know whether this structure has been 3D printed although great to know if it has been and provides a very light foreground to this installation.

We love the aesthetic at Belstaff right now with these delicious merchandise tones and textures.  Sand structures have been created to form plinths onto which are placed their fantastic footwear and elevating the mannequins to just above the bottom edge of the fenestration.  The mannequin positions are slightly reminiscent of a Police line up however rather than grouped as we would normally expect so any possible dynamic is lost but then everyone is an expert in Visual Merchandising, right?  Perhaps its time to recognise that we shouldn't always use computer packages to 'drag and drop' window schemes which this one has a strong whiff of.  This is not to say it is unlikable or wrong but all dynamics known to any well practiced Visual Merchandiser have clearly been lost in the digital production process leading to a very generic outcome.

Inspired by Belstaff's motorcycling Heritage, the latest installation which has gone across the major Visual merchandising cities of the world looks quite spectacular.  Featuring the brands Phoenix at the centre of the structure, the mechanical installation brings together Belstaff's rugged signature tones with automotive parts to create an abstracted snowflake.  The backdrops either side of the structure are blueprints from the construction plans.  If you are in London or with us here in New York right now then do go and check out the store.  If you are in neither then have a look at their amazing video by clicking on the link here http://vimeo.com/114866785

We see the brand spanking new Belstaff store has now opened along Bond street and looking super cool?  If you happen to pass by this store do have a look at these super thin video panels placed on the fenestration, absolutely remarkable. Technology, eh?  Anyway, Fendi is also opening a new store also a few doors away so watch this space and we will include their first scheme shortly.

Belstaff, London

As everything becomes digital around us it is so interesting to see schemes such as this one at Belstaff referencing what is quite a nostalgic technique.  Its not quite an animatronic scheme but there is clearly a motor placed inside this window in order to drive this huge propeller   We haven't seen this technique for quite some time so it is quite refreshing.  We're not sure whether everything will revert back to 'oscillations and indexing' or even retailers adopting those turntables from retail of yesteryear, but then stranger things have happened.

Belstaff, London

We cant help but love the humour behind this simple yet perfectly pitched scheme at Belstaff right now.  Clearly the team here have really thought about what, with regards to their products, sums up this brand and yet communicates that its Christmas without being intrusive and taking over the whole window scheme.  Brilliant stuff.

Further along the windows at Harrods here in Knightsbridge is the new Belstaff scheme.  What is particularly interesting about this scheme, besides the high quality of installation is the amazing rolling screen.  This is a difficult scheme to appreciate in a static image so if you happen to be over this part of town, do go an take a look.

Belstaff, London

We are really growing to like what this brand does more and more.  Here we have the Union flag, within which we have a kind of collage of images that make up the whole.  Of course, it is a remnant from the Royal Wedding last week (we guess?) however its great to see a brand in London, that's not British getting into the mood of it all.  We keep meaning to swing by and take a closer look at the merchandise in this store but time just keeps running away with us.  Maybe this is an opportunity for retailers to consider people like ourselves that just don't have the time very often to spend browsing and purchasing around their sites and to consider what they can do about it? What do you think?

Belstaff, London

We've only just realised that we've never mentioned this brand on this site before.  We often pass this store along Conduit st. but strangely it always seems to elude us.  Having said that, we've had a closer look at the merchandise and while it is rather pricey it is quite wonderful.  In fact we were drooling over the collections on-line.  Unfortunately, if you wish to buy on-line (and we're not sure this is a brand that one would want to do this with) the site is rather out of date.  Strangely its rich history only leads up until 2006 - bizarre, eh?  Also, the merchandise available on-line is also quite limited.  Looks like a visit to the store is in order.  Anyway, within the window schemes the brand have used old crates in which to present the merchandise.  This is something we've seen a lot of around town since January.  The brand have also used these full bodied generic mannequins in a high gloss  Black finish.   The colours of course of the merchandise are absolutely on trend and we're going to swing by soon and take a closer look.
