We feel that we have gone back in time with this 'strand' theme here at Uniglo right now.  Using its technical term we would describe this as repetition of vertical lines of various colours (or in layman's terms, we've seen it all before).  The whole 'strand' theme travelled through its usual journey led by luxury brands down to mid-range retailers and then down to value two years ago and globally too.  Very odd to see this again Uniglo?

We've seen the use of Umbrellas from Prada to Primark and everyone else in between, but somehow this scheme does actually look rather cool.  We did feel a sigh coming on and a kind of oh-no-not-umbrellas-again-yawn but we have to say that due to the scale of this store along Oxford street, this scheme did look, well, not so much interesting, but it did have a certain impact, so job well done we guess.

Uniglo, New York

We actually captured this scheme at Uniglo on 5th Avenue before the holidays although we felt that it looked so good (slightly generic) but really works with the architecture of the space.  Our first impression was that it was very similar to the kind of installations we have seen at Moncler previously but produced in this brands particular style.

This scheme slightly reminds us of the 'new age' collections between 1989-1990, don't you think?  Everything went White for a while, albeit with glittery bumbags and Silver trainers. Anyway, this is a really fresh scheme from Uniglo, oozing the coolness we really need right now.

As the schemes here go, this is one of their more interesting ones we thought.  Well, interesting in that the boxes behind these mannequins rotate 360 degrees.  Revolutionary stuff this.

This is a really interesting scheme at Uniglo at the moment. As part of the Regent St. windows project (if you remember, the one that didn't include us or sent us no information-at-all-so-we-are-making-this-up-as-we-go-along-scenario). But anyway, we are working through the therapy and have made enough progress to say something positive about this scheme by Scott Brownrigg. These incredible Red pointy structures surrounding these mannequins have tiny little cityscape's contained within them. The lighting changes in turn and casts incredible shadows around the space which really do look phenomenal. However, the surrounding Gold fabric does look like a former scheme from Chanel (that's not a compliment) and the finish...well....not very sharp. Still, if you have a window scheme that doesn't use Visual Merchandising specialists - ya' know, because just about anyone can do this job, right?, then you get what you don't pay for and the result it clear.
