Desigual. London

Desigual have a giant Red Snail in their window.  We don't know why, but they do.  With their Neon signage screaming 'Have Fun' flashing on and off (which is why we have two separate images to demonstrate this) and gorgeous mannequins with articulated arms and hands (which they use so effectively and thankfully not in a giggly covering an embarrassed laugh way as so many other brands are doing) but actually gesturing and supporting their usual strong promotion.  You know that we love this tiny window space along Regent street here in the centre of it all.  Thanks guys, looks really fun.

Desigual, London

If you want to view a bit-of-fun scheme then always pop to Desigual.  This brand oozes personality and this tiny little window is always a favourite of ours; we religiously pass by to take a look and see what they've done.  Looking ever so slightly triffid-esque (OK well its not actually a word but we're sure you know what we mean, if you don't then just look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triffid) with giant dots this window is just fun, fun, fun.

Desigual, London

Oh this brand is just the gift that just keeps giving.  We adore this one tiny window here in the centre of it all as it never fails to either amuse us or impress us; in fact one of their schemes is in our book Visual Merchandising for Fashion.  If you fancy getting hold of a copy yourself they are super cheap and available on Amazon.com by following the link here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Visual-Merchandising-Fashion-Basics-Management/dp/2940496129

Desigual, London

Never a brand to disappoint, Desigual have yet again pulled off a killer window.  This is such a tiny space and yet every time these guys inject such humour and quality into what is actually a banal time of year.  We've been so impressed with their contribution that we have even included their previous Sale scheme in our book Fashion Visual Merchandising which is out now.

Desigual, London

From just this one little window along Regent street, Desigual really does scream out their presence.  We always look forward to what they will install and this week we have these beautifully coloured forms creating a theatrical set layout.  Will you do something with your other window at this store though?

Desigual, London

Oh guys, we were really relying on you to share some creativity with us with this scheme.  We've seen some fantastic stuff in just this one window here on Oxford street in the heart of it all and right now.......taa daa...a badly lit window.   Whats going on here?  Cu'mon Desigual we know you have it in you to entertain, make us drool a little, tease and make us come back for more; right now this window sucks.

Desigual, Panama

We like a great Desigual store as these guys always seem to make such an effort, don't you think?  Its a little bit of a shame that they haven't got their mannequin groupings correct here though as it would have had far more impact.  Cu'mon guys, mannequins in groups of 3 and 2 so they don't all look like they are in a police line up and some good use of plinths to get some height?

Desigual, London

If you are looking for Sex, Fun and Love (we assume in any order for your preference) then do pop down to Desigual along Oxford Street.  This cheeky little window space really does earn its 'right; on the high street and is always such incredibly good fun too.   The tourists were being drawn in by the dozen; job well done then we think.

Desigual, London

It appears that the guys at Desigual are having far too much fun, don't you think?   Screaming from this tiny (by comparison to the others on Regent street) is their latest offering that says 'we're a young and fun brand and just want to share it all with you'.  The energy and passion that these guys clearly have oozes from their schemes which makes the surrounding stores appear deficient by comparison.

Desigual, London

After what feels like months away from freezing London we're back....!  Sadly its dreaded Sale time here, and no sooner had the wheels touched the runway from what now feels like an exotic climate we've been out an about to at least find some interesting schemes here to share with you.  Thankfully, Desigual rarely disappoint us and even though it is this hideous no-mans land-of-window-schemes-time-of-year they always make an effort to bring a bit of humor to the high street.  Thank goodness for Desigual, eh?

Desigual, London

Desigual just keep on amusing and entertaining us and we love it.  We're beginning to see more and more sophisticated technology being introduced into store windows and this is clearly the future and where things are headed.  Here we not only have movement but also sound being pumped from this scheme.  It wont be long before everything becomes virtual but in the meantime we can enjoy the visual merchandising skills being employed, not only to sell to us (which of course is the point) but entertain along the way.  Great stuff.

Desigual, London

This one tiny window at Desigual just gets better and better.  The guys here clearly have their fingers on the pulse of it all and its certainly rocking Regent street literally as we type.  We're beginning to see more and more of these travel references and interestingly aeroplanes being included in various schemes right now so there is clearly a trend which we also noticed at Banana Republic just a few doors away.  Anyway, if you happen to pass this store then do take a look inside.  The bottles hanging from the ceiling here look incredible.

Desigual, London

The guys at Desigual are absolutely right.  London is not the same.  How wonderfully chaotic and exciting is this scheme in what is actually a tiny space?  Desigual is so hot right now and this scheme says it all.  We're exciting, we're fun and we're full of life just screams from just this one window.  We absolutely adore what the guys do here and we've been catching up on some You tube promotions that they have done and, well, wow;  these guys are so fricking good and clearly have the best people working with them.

Desigual, London

We absolutely love the Jubilee scheme at Desigual right now.  Superb.  It is a tricky one to capture because the vinyl completely covers the fenestration and therefore blurs the image.  Anyway, it doesn't really matter as the guys here have produced a wonderful scheme which is absolutely suited to the current occasion.  Even though its raining here in London right now this scheme really does lift our spirits and makes us feel all British.  Fantastic guys..!

Desigual, London

We have such insatiable appetites for creative schemes which is why we are always on the look out for the latest and greatest.  At Desigual, these guys do produce such fun schemes that we are ever more thankful that we live in our modern western society (bring on the sinning and debauchery).  If Desigual had installed this into a window in the Middle East where we have recently been showing you schemes, with their references to-dare-we-say-the-word-sex,  then they would probably have found themselves in prison for a few days - bonkers, eh?  Thankfully here in 'GMT' we can express our thoughts, poke a bit of fun and celebrate our fabulous freedom to entertain, to be creative and say what we like (with respect to others of course).  Thank goodness for democracy and the creativity that enriches us all and make our lives a lot more interesting and enjoyable.  Rock on Desigual and your creativity.....lets keep it coming?

Desigual, London

Desigual have continually amused and entertained us throughout 2011 and possibly their final scheme for this year is no exception.  This scheme is quite ghostly in some respects with their glowing Santa head and so on.  The mannequins look very icy in this scheme and dressed in the merchandise from this brand which has a huge personality.  We can only wonder that, if these guys had a much bigger space to work with, what they could possibly do, although we are teasing ourselves to even think of this notion considering they have a relatively small space to work with at this store along Regent street.  In the meantime we read today that,  apparently the words 'thank you' have been replaced with the more commonly used 'cheers' here in the old U of K, so in the same as our fellow countrymen and women, Cheers Desigual for making our work ever more interesting and fun.

Desigual, London

How can just one window bring such viewing pleasure?  Desigual along Regent st. are rocking London right now with their tiny space - an oasis in a mass of mass produced schemes.  We weren't so sure of the graffiti strap line a the back of the scheme 'find your dream'.  If we were dreaming of a Giraffe with its head  through a wall...we really wouldn't want to dream any longer or look for it.  However, great fun as always.  We are seeing more and more abstract schemes happening at the moment.  COS in particular look incredible and we'll show you what they are doing sometime this week.  In the meantime we love what these guys are doing at this Desigual store.

Desigual, London

We came across this scheme at Desigual over the weekend and naturally were drawn in to take a closer look.  What is the connection between Christian Lacroix and the Spanish brand Desigual, we hear you ask?  Well, it transpires that Monsieur C. Lacroix (apparently he can no longer design under the name Christian Lacroix......long story, but various search engines bring up some interesting information)  But, anyway, this is a hugely exciting move forward for this brand.  Finally, we have an incredible couture designer working with a high street retailer rather than an-incredible-couture-designer-working-for-a-high-street-retailer-for-EBay-kinda-scenario.  The window scheme promoting this collaboration oozes excitement and sophistication.  We love a lot of the product here anyway and to have this iconic designer on board is quite incredible, if perhaps a little Parisian.  We're definitely going in to take a closer look at the merchandise when we get a moment.  The scheme itself with its semi-drawn back curtain, show-girl stylised mannequins add a certain depth to this brand that was otherwise ever so slightly missing, but only just.  The text on the 'chalk board' reads "I was awestruck by the first girl dressed by Desigual that I saw in Paris.  As I watched her, I could recognise in her a member of my own tribe.  It was an explosion of colors and patchwork under the elegant, discreet and always monotonous French sky:  It was fantastic, truly love at first sight" - Monsieur Lacroix.  Isnt this all so incredibly exciting?  Now...........if we can get BHS (British Home Stores) to sell some Galliano we're all on the up......if of course Topshop doesn't get there first.........ah yes.......same company anyway, so who knows?

Desigual, London

The guys at Desigual are clearly having far too much fun.  Their windows (at least at their Regent St. store, and this window in particular) ice-screams attention in between the bland stores either side of it.  Scheme after scheme here recently we have seen the unleashing their true creativity,  breaking through like a beacon of hope in this part of town.  They are, we would hope, being supported by the purse string holders of this brand and just about everyone else who thinks they need to have a say - we know how difficult it is to do these things - and what an incredible outcome this is.  This is a fun brand who obviously know who their target market are and know how to maximise an opportunity.  Fantastic guys..!
