Emporio Armani, Milan

We're always slightly cautious when a luxury brand claims to be sustainable although apparently the latest range from this brand is just that.  How it is is not clear however.  The windows were the key element which drew us in with the dizzying patterned circular structures in repetition format and various sizes.

Emporio Armani, London

We're not entirely sure what the narrative is here? Or, of course, if there is one.  There appears to be a large lifebouy next to come coloured blocks / plinths but not much else apart from the product.   We've scanned their website but unfortunately we're not able to make any connections here.  Anyway, this is whats out there right now.

Emporio Armani, London

We've seen a lot of collaborations over the years and this usually involves ones with brands and various Artists (with the exception of course of H&M) however it is quite interesting to see two similar-ish brands come together to produce work and in this case we have Emporio Armani and C.P. Company  (Both celebrating milestone anniversaries,  40 and 50 years respectively).   While neither brand is particularly interesting to look at the quality of the products is beautiful.

Times are clearly changing rapidly.  It wasn't that long ago that most brands appeared to avoid most things sustainable or at least Green washed everything.  During the pandemic we saw more of more of these kinds of brands adding a whole range of sustainble stuff to their collections which of course is great although the cynical part of us always wonders just how much anything that they do really is (no matter what their websites claim).  Anyway, here you go, the launch of a new Sustainble Capsule from this brand.

We always wonder when we look at retail store windows on such a regular basis whether some brands have convinced themselves that visual merchandising is just not their thing?  Or, perhaps not right for their brand.  We often see such lukewarm schemes out there on the high street which also makes us wonder if some brands actually have any visual specialists at all.  We are scouring the high street for just about anything visual happening right now but unfortunately we've used up all the good stuff.  In the meantime here's Emporio Armani.

This scheme is possibly not at the top of list of favourites from the season although this is what is out there and we like to include as many different types of windows as possible.  We have seen some great, although sometimes simple schemes in these windows during the year, remember those gorgeous palms we showed you a while ago?  Anyway, baubles in a range of repetition formats feature in the windows here at Armani Exchange.

While the latest installation at this brand is not the most interesting or detailed we have ever seen we were rather struck by their amazing palm props.  Produced in some kind metal, and finely cut these pieces alone look so beautiful and yet don't overpower the actual window space in any way.  Of course if this was a department store these palms would be stacked to the rafters in a whole range of dramatic ways however the simplicity of this installation does what it does perfectly well, that is, enhance the product.

This is quite an interesting installation at EA right now although we arent quite sure if it is supposed be be something or just one of those gap filling schemes?  The windows appear to have some kind of perspex (?) structure in place which surrounds the product with wrapped bands - slightly similar to some of the Rick Owens DrkShdw collection we have spotted recently.

We're not a big fan of the use of graphics in store windows usually although these ones at EA are actually quite creative.  Using what appears to be colour printing on the top of newspaper articles is very interesting particularly as it has also been used in conjunction with these light boxes in a symmetrical format.
