Dolce and Gabbana, London

While there is very little / nothing in the form of recognisable Visual Merchandising, we actually love the product here and the super creativity which comes from this brand.  We don't always like everything but on occasion they do produce work which is interesting to view (at least for us).  The brand usually turn around their visual merchandising schemes at super fast pace although its all very quiet on that front at the moment.  Maybe Christmas we guess.

Dolce and Gabbana, London

We've seen some great schemes from this brand over time and this installation was initially interesting, well until that is they tried to make it like a Christmas scheme with the addition of the coloured lighting and the ornate structure behind the bustforms.  All very odd looking is this scheme.

Dolce and Gabbana, London

We have been slighly spoiled by this brand this year as they have, despite all of the on-going problems in the world still presented us with their very creative window schemes.  Right now however there isnt a great deal to see although this might (just might) be as they are preparing for the installation of their Christmas scheme.  In the meantime we present you with some very glossy and sparkly windows but without Visual Merchandising (unless you include the mannequins).

Dolce and Gabbana, London

We actually spotted this scheme a few weeks ago and we are still trying to work out how we feel about it.  We love the floral arches and of course the narrative around the installation although we think its the bust forms which are putting us off actually loving this installation.  Mannequins would have possibly worked a lot better here for us, generating a far more glamorous outcome, even if the product is rather casual.  But, thats just our thoughts.

Dolce and Gabbana, London

The suppliers who produce the schemes for this brand must be working overtime with the amount of stores, windows and schemes that this brand have.  In fact it actually isn't possible to leave Bond street without passing one of them (if you travel in a straight line of course).  As usual decadent props and lots of Gold fill the windows here at their Piccadilly end of this luxury street.

Dolce and Gabbana, London

One thing of note about this brand is that they do some quite interesting schemes.  Just look at the multitude of colours and these incredible patterns.  Large screen props fill the background to their open backed windows in front of which are small plinths in a pyramidal format presenting the product.  This is just one of the brands' stores along Bond street here in the centre of it all although we will share their other stores' scheme with you shortly.

Dolce and Gabbana, London

As always this brand is a gift that just keeps on giving when it comes to retail store windows.  No only do we have this scheme but just a stones throw away at their other store along Bond street is a completely different one.  We're guessing that they either have a very large VM design team of one very hardworking creative director.  The scheme of course looks much better in reality than it does here as the security grille behind the product and props is doing it no favours.

Dolce and Gabbana, London

We've seen a lot of use of these types of pillars across a few brands over 2020 and of course most recently at Max Mara.  This scheme is probably the most interesting of them all however with some very exciting merchandise too.  It is slightly a shame that they tend use bust forms however as we're not quite sure that they do the product any favours although given the volume of stores that they have it was no doubt quite a task to put this in place anyway and we're grateful that they have.

Dolce and Gabbana, London

We do love a bit of leopard print....Grrrrr....and a good dose of exotica.  As always this brand massively delivers with their schemes and this one along Bond street looks so interesting.  We're nearly at the stage (possibly?) of a lock down here in London (but it is only a maybe at this stage) although we ourselves are continuing to socially distance ourselves so that we stay well and are able to keep bringing you the latest in retail store windows.  We are gradually running out of images although we will keep posting for as long as we can.

Dolce and Gabbana, London

While digital technology is still in its infancy with regard to store windows we are finding that at least some brands are using the old favs., the tv screen.  As with a recent scheme at Burberry, this brand have applied these to a pole, and, of course, a nice shiny one at that, but what is interesting is the content here.  Videos demonstrating some of the details from behind the scenes, its history (its not old enough to have a heritage yet) in conjunction with some of their catwalk shows.

Dolce and Gabbana, London

This brand have become quite minimal at the moment with the use of these screens.  They do have quite incredible products although the dressing here isn't really doing them any favours considering the cost of the product itself.  We usually see some wonderful energy in these schemes although it might just represent that time of year and the general malaise of the season.

Dolce and Gabbana, London

References to souvenir stands is the scheme right now complete with the obligatory fridge magnets, postcards (does anyone send these anymore?), key rings, maps and so on.  Sadly the security grille was down behind this installation which makes is look rather messy although it is quite interesting to see in the 'flesh'.

Dolce and Gabbana, London

We seem to remember seeing this scheme in Milan during Salone although in a way, in the name of sustainability, this is possibly a good thing and perhaps like some other luxury brands, the top schemes get passed around their various flagships.  Anyway, as with Coach who we featured yesterday the brand have also included scaffolding in their scheme, only this time they also have these Monkey props complete with peeled Bananas.

Dolce and Gabbana, Miami

Unfortunately we cant avoid the reflection on the glass here at Bal Harbour given that it is an external mall, albeit a luxury one.  That said, as always, this brand never disappoint although haven't we seen this scheme in New York before?  Who knows?  Anyway, with their, we guess, references to the artisan quality of their product, complete with thimbles, reels of thread and naturally the obligatory buttons and needles, whats not to like.
