We often look at this brand........and look....and then...ultimately..... just a cursory glance. Quite a few years ago there was an exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum here in London, possibly 1987? The retrospective of Salvatore Ferragamo was so incredibly dynamic, the product was exciting and desirable, it doesnt have a manufactured heritage.....and yet, here we have the current windows. Now, keep in mind that this seems to be as exciting as it gets here. As you know, we like to 'tell it like it is' and...well.....the only word that comes to our minds is.......Dull......Dull......Dull....we're falling asleep even looking at this scheme. What has happened to this brand, hey? Where are the dynamics? Where is the excitement? Why would we want to shop here?.......oh the list goes on.....we're sure you get the giste.

Hermes, London
Thankfully, like a Phoenix from the ashes, new schemes are emerging amongst the multiple brands Sale windows. Here at Hermes along Bond st. their new and superb quality scheme has been installed with what appears to be a kind of Asian influenced installation? The quality of the merchandise, of course, as always remains unquestionably some of the best around and in this instance working so incredibly well in tandem with the scheme (or actually vice versa). A paper boat appears to have sunk amongst gorgeous corals and shells and a washing line held up with bamboo in the purest White are contained in just some of the other windows here. A great scheme and an oasis on the high street right now.

Ortigia, London
We have never heard of this store until we scooted around Marylebone Road and scratched a little deeper beyond London's immediate West End, and here we have Origia. Probably an independent store, and yet strangely very strong brand-wise. We love the painted glass above the main window, even if it is a little motif-like, but the concept is there at least. The Palm tree logo is clearly playing to a target audience and that's OK, isn't it? After all, whether we like it or not it is aiming at a particular market and that's cool too. Anyway, some of the product looks very interesting and if we happen to be here during opening hours we'll certainly venture inside to take a closer look.

Cox and Power, London
We have been struggling a lot this week to find some interesting schemes to share with you all and found ourselves out of our usual area and venturing up Marylebone High st. in search of a scheme or retail space that actually is not in Sale. Through pure serendipity we came across Cox and Power and their incredible windows. We often remark about retailers that have small items of merchandise to present and yet have huge window spaces, to really break the space down into small 'reveals' in order to maximise the impact of such tiny product. Few independents really listen, and the luxury brands of course have it all so right. We're guessing that Cox and Power are an independent and how right have these guys got their scheme, eh? These wonderfully fun illuminated port holes with backgrounds in a variety of delicious colours just works so incredibly well. The whole installation drew us in to take a closer inspection and really focus in on the product. Someone did an excellent job with this store.

Diptyque, London
For some odd reason, we haven't published anything from this company even though we look at them quite frequently........bizarre, eh? Anyway, we have recorded what they do in the past anyway, so we have a record of what they have been up to. Diptyque have a great scheme in at the moment which compliments Sale schemes perfectly right now (complimentary as in opposites on the colour wheel rather than working in tandem). With the high street absolutely saturated with cosmetics, bath stuff, exfoliating this, moisturising.....whatever you like to moisturise, and in conjunction with gorgeous smelling candles and a night in on your own or shared, who could resist stepping in here? With the use of repetition of radiating forms in the shape of these concertinaed structures in a fabulous Lime green, the product is incredible, it smells great, feels great and lets bring on one of those pampering evenings, hey?

Lanvin, London
Thankfully there is a ray of hope out there on the high street and Sale schemes, while still dominant, are gradually finally on their way out. Unfortunately, what there is to view is not the best in the world by far, and unfortunately this scheme is no exception. We screeched to a halt to view this scheme at Lanvin, but on closer inspection, fomex mounted images of Leopards and Lions (with vinyl versions adhered to the fenestration) placed rather oddly on the lap of a mannequin or leaning up against another (because of the way it has been cut) rather jars particularly with consideration to the cost of this merchandise. This could have been a really fun scheme and potentially still could be, as the concept is there, but as every expense has been spared, particularly for such an expensive brand, this one just doesn't work at all?

The Lake District, United Kingdom
We've been banished to the depths of middle England for a few days with one of our clients and were released for a couple of hours to wander around the local area of the Lake District, of course ever ready and armed with our cameras to bring you the latest and....er....greatest from the Lake District. OK, well we didn't expect to find the latest Prada walking boots or Gucci ski suits (and we didn't find any anyway). However, this is a beautiful part of the United Kingdom and of course should be celebrated. The air is so clean we choked, the silence deafening. In an area that boasts the final resting place of Wordsworth and the Beatrix Potter experience we ventured around the village of Ambleside, cab in tow and scouted around for beautiful things. The above is the result of our strategic wander.

Smythson, London
We have to confess that we are not massive fans of this scheme, although with Sale windows in place in just about every other retailer in town, it was quite a necessary inclusion for today. It is fun in a way but we do find that the colours are incredibly garish, the product very expensive and we're not sure that these two elements work well together, what do you think? Expensive brand looking cheap?

Scabal, London
On a few occasions we do find ourselves wandering along Saville Row, just in case something somewhere catches our eye. We usually make a bee line straight to Lanvin as they tend to produce schemes that are rather more professionally produced to the usual tailors. However, we were rather impressed, given that Saville Row tailors are not particularly noted for their window schemes, with this one from Scabel (no we hadn't heard of them either). Anyway, the usual pyramidal dynamics are in place so we suspect that they were given a hand by someone who knew what they were doing and what you see here is what you get. Quite refreshing to see someone else on this street making an effort, and therefore worthy of inclusion on this site, we think?

Berlutti, London
We often pass the Berlutti store along Conduit Street and barely give it a cursory glance. This store, which is next door to the ever fabulous Vivienne Westwood and opposite the new and pending Nicole Farhi store and their new and incredibly exciting site (the hoardings are up and we are dying to see what they are doing behind it). With their tiny window spaces at Berlutti, these guys don't really do very much but on this occasion, they raised a smile in us with their presentation of their shoes stepping on egg shells. Finally, we have something from these guys worth sharing and we are so pleased to do so. We don't know anything at all about this brand other than that they are probably incredibly expensive, given their location, but we do hope that even in the tiny space that they do have, that they will continue to entertain us and make us come back again and again. If you are along this part of town, do go and have a look. There is clearly something intriguing about them and we want to know more, so hopefully their PR guys will get in touch and we'll be able to tell you more about what they do (unless you already know?)

Bally, London
Its quite unusual for Bally to use bust forms in their window schemes. What is so interesting about these ones also are the layers added to them which makes them ever more interesting. These bust forms used in a repetition format are being used 'naked' and raw with the addition of, in some cases this fibre glass layer which has been added to them. We suspect Tanya (Tanya Reynolds, creative Director at Proportion>London) and her team have been experimenting with different materials and these ones are quite delicious. We're pleased to see these in place at Bally as bags can be shown in such dull ways normally and what great fun they are too.

Gucci, London
We had forgotten that we had taken these images until recently. Of course Sale windows are so dominant around town right now that there really is little else to photograph anyway, therefore we are scanning our previous weeks images in search of the latest or at least current images that we may previously overlooked. These are some of them. We had actually meant to include this scheme recently as it does work so incredibly well in its simplicity. An image of a White marble staircase leading to nowhere in particular forms the back ground to the product here. Strangely, these images of staircases do look incredibly cleverly and beautifully produced and our images just don't do them justice. Sadly in our images the whole thing just looks like a headless mannequin wearing an OK suit in front of a White marble staircase. Ah well, who said that the camera never lies, hey?
