Tory Burch, New York

This is our final entry from New York before we head back to London to view the latest schemes for the new season.  Most retailers this time of year either contain the remnants from Christmas or Sale so were not absolutely hopeful of finding anything interesting but who knows.  Here at Tory Burch, a mixture of textured and flat strips in an extended hashtag format form the back drop to their delicious products in seasonal colours.  We would have liked to have seen a little more personality here but we guess this is it.  Tomorrow,  London.

Love Adorned, New York

Another one of our favouite boutiques in New York has to be Love Adorned which we always make a beeline for on our visits.  Gorgeous products and unusual ones at that are beautifully placed in this space.  If you like Home and personal gift-type products then head to this store and take a look.  On our visit the windows were covered in these amazing graphics, slightly obscuring the view into the space but making it just that bit more interesting.

Stance, New York

This is one of the more interesting brands we've come across while on our walks around the city.  If you thought that the retail landscape couldn't squeeze out a new concept then have a look at Stance.  This brands design and philosophy appears to recognise the influence of Music, motion and Art play with a window scheme presented as a 3D mood board communicating the thinking and stories behind the products in store.  This casual lifestyle brand appears as more of a boutique than a corporate / multi-national and this is why it is so refreshing.  From Punks to Poets this brand has a really cool vibe.  Thank goodness for these delicious finds among the generic global brands. #localisedcreativity

Restoration Hardware, New York

If there is one thing that New York retailers do well, its definitely home wear.  From ABC, Pottery Barn, West Elm to here at Restoration Hardware, each has their own personality and each one oozes quality.  The downside (if there is one) is that a lot of products can look a little 'faux', however if you dont mind that then you will love this brand.  Beautifully styled and super nice assistants do go and check out their store.  #beautifulproducts

Diesel, New York

We came across and popped into the new Diesel store here in New York recently and what a fantastic new concept.  Digital technology mixed with infinity mirrors, foliage and vintage over dyed rugs.  We don't normally gush about this brand although this new concept is a corker.  (Just don't try to go downstairs in this store however even through there is a staircase that would indicate there is more to see as the sales assistants shout at you in unison #putasignupthen)

Rootstein, New York

We had been worried that this brand had closed its doors in London some time ago, however we are so pleased to tell you that it is alive and well and continues to produce the amazing work that it always did to the highest standards for which it is world renowned.  Their latest collection, Defile, which launched here in New York tells the story of a retrofuturistic travelling fashion show which gives the viewer a glimpse backstage and behind the scenes.  Rootstein collaborated with Joe Tate to bring his interpretation of Defile to life.  Superb work as always from this brand.

No Expectations, New York

We've been down to explore the Lower East side of New York as the boutiques are always so interesting.  We aren't absolutely sure of the name of this store other than it has No Expectations written on the door so we assume its that (unless you tell us otherwise).  Just a small but interesting space.

Marc Jacobs, New York

There appear to be quite a few Marc Jacobs stores here in New York although our favourite has to be this one along Bleecker street.  Really friendly and helpful staff and great installation in their windows with an equally interesting interior space.  Our favourite bit has to be the wall of convex mirrors (not in view in these images).  This time last year we saw a similar collaboration between Disney and luxury brands although it still seems an odd choice to us?

Public Factory, New York

One of the more exciting finds we've come across on our travels around New York has to be this, #publicfactory concept store attached to the Soho Grand hotel.  We have seen these kinds of retail spaces popping up across town such as at the Ace Hotel and its surrounding cool places to shop.  This co-retailing concept for emerging consumer brands adds so much interest to the usual hotel experience even if there wasn't anything we would particularly desire here.  There are of course the unnecessary and apparently obligatory surly staff to go with it which generates quite a cold experience; this is rather unfortunate given that this store isn't exactly Colette and hasn't reached that cool cache status here but it is interesting to look at at nonetheless.

Muji, New York

We've never seen a Muji store as big as this one along 5th Avenue and a mega store it certainly is.  Displaying some of the key trends from 2015 including the hang out zone, personalisation and customisation and the use of plants in store this site is a corker.  If you have the chance do swing by as more than the usual products are carried here.

Kenneth Cole, New York

We first came across this brand on our travels to Chicago about 11 years ago and have loved it ever since.  This store in New York is particularly delicious with its gallery-like installation of products in Black.  Just beautiful and of course this season would not be complete without an over sized wreath of Golden sneakers.

Oakley, New York

Well its all over then and after months of preparation for Christmas the new plans for next years installations will shortly begin.  Here at Oakley, not one of our most shopped at brands we have to say, we were rather drawn in by the digital installation on the ceiling.  The windows are perhaps a little unloved as they tend to be in these types of brands but worthy of inclusion as this digital element demonstrates how brands like this are finally differentiating from each other and yes finally upping the ante.
