Cos, London

Beautifully elegant and almost Museum-like (in a really good way) are the windows right now at Cos.  Merchandise has been beautifully placed on what appear to be references to old style drawing boards perhaps suggesting the care and thought in place behind each of their products.  Who knows?

Topshop, London

With its interlocking structural forms in a multitude of colours, Topshop as always is rocking the high street.  Just look at the dramatic catwalk that they have created with their clever use of mannequins.  Simply stunning.

Bershka, Dubai

This is a really fascinating scheme at Bershka right now with their incredible use of Refraction.  We're not entirely sure if this scheme has gone around the world although here in the Mall of the Emirates we spotted this one which drew us in.  So good to see some thought going into their schemes with huge doses of originality.  Its not often Science meets Visual Merchandising so if you have never seen one before then here it is.  The mannequins somehow let this scheme down a little though, don't they?

Gucci, Dubai

We viewed this scheme back in London so its clearly one which has gone global.  Repetition of radiating forms which look almost like embroidery rings.  There not much else to say about this scheme although it does have great impact in these enormous Dubai Mall window spaces.

Wanderland, Hermes, London

If you haven't seen the Wanderland exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery then you are missing a fantastic treat of a show.  Hermes is one of those luxury brands who we feel strangely connected with.  OK we own nothing of the products but we have been hooked into their philosophy and brand presentation.  Wanderland takes you on the fantasy journey of the Flaneur (The Flaneur was originally a literary type of the 19th Century although we are all flaneurs if we walk the streets of London in order to experience it)  The exhibition consists of a series of 11 rooms in various media created by range of diverse artists; some of the rooms are included here.  The digital media is quite mind blowing from a storm in a tea cup to an eye in a bottle.  This is great fun to see if you have a minute and really worth the small effort it takes to go.  The exhibition is on until 2nd May so make sure you catch it before it goes on to Paris and then to Italy.

Cartier, Dubai

OK, nothing revolutionary here but just a nice window.  Lots of clouds in what are rather giant sized windows for such a small product, albeit a very sparkly one.

Lanvin, Dubai

In this ultra conservative culture we couldn't help but raise a smile at this installation at Lanvin.  Artists have long had a means to add sly messages into their work that are often quite hidden and we really hope that this brand were thinking in this way?  Who knows?  They probably wouldn't spill the beans anyway.  While of course this is a great installation does this remind you of some kind of bondage scene (above)?  Naturally we can only guess from our own (ahem) vague references of bondage you understand or maybe we are just hoping it is?  Probably the latter once you view the image below.

Joseph, London

During the month of April, Barbara Casasola is bringing her SS15 collection to Joseph on Brompton Road here in London.  Referencing Brazilian Architect Lina Bo Bardi's historic Casa de Vidro which is situated in the rain forest outskirts of Sao Paolo (do look this amazing place up as there are some really interesting links to Le Corbusier and his use of paloti at the Villa Savoye in Poissy, France).  The stunning abstract interior of Casa de Vidro with its concrete tiles, steel columns and raw linen curtains which looks onto the hidden tropical garden creates the context for the sensual aesthetic of this London based designers collection.

Diesel, Dubai

Diesel in the Dubai Mall are currently going down the land of the giants out sized prop route right now.  Huge snack bags, drinks cans and straws in a cartoon style communicate the fun that these guys are having.  Its hardly ever not Summer here (well maybe the odd rainy day once a year which completely freaks the locals out) so perfectly appropriate.  We haven't seen this in London so maybe it is a Dubai specific scheme, we honestly don't know, but great to see such amazingly huge windows being played with.
