J Crew, London

This is an interesting industrial-style installation at J Crew although they dont ever seem to follow through into the store from their window schemes for some reason however?  Slightly odd.  The latest installation appears to be a kind of warehouse/industrial influenced theme with the use of industrial hooks and rope tensions breaking up the window space and product suspended in a gravitational format.

G-Star, London

We haven't worked out the connection between the Origami and the promotion of the new pouch denim at G-Star although the way the pieces are positioned it does draw your eye to that all important aspect of these new jeans (we were trying to resist writing crotch).  Apart from this there is nothing else to comment on as their second window contains a simple line up of figures.

Aquascutum, London

We haven't included this brand for a while although they haven't done anything interesting until now so we had nothing to share.  However, with their signature rain macs (looking slightly Burberry) and their illuminated backdrop simulating rain (we guess) this brand is looking rather cool.  Having risen from the ashes and with new investment we really hope they continue with the kind of impact this scheme has with the ones to follow.  Watch this space we guess.....

John Lewis, London

The Back to School schemes are creeping in already (or in the case of John Lewis along Oxford Street, Back to University).  With their Green back drop, faux grass panels and of course the suggested room settings, the products of course look very desirable.  One thing that you might not notice immediately is the time on the clock in the image below; 10.10.  This team clearly know that times on watches/clocks are always set at either 10.10, 13.50, 19.20 or occasionally 16.40, just look at any advertising and you can spot who gets this right (or not).

Stella McCartney, China

Working with Stella McCartney, the team at www.sfd.co.uk were commissioned to manufacture and install these fantastic oversized neon Cats at her various stores across China, including the flagships in Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu.  McCartney has long been a supporter of PETA and this installation was designed to highlight the work that they do.  The same scheme has been installed here in London and which we featured recently to highlight the work of Battersea Cats and Dogs home.

Baldessarini, Stuttgart

Images Courtesy and Copyright www.dfrost.com
We dont know very much about this brand although from a cursory glance across their website, it was developed around 93/94 by the former designer at Hugo Boss, Wemer Baldessarini.  Are there any stores in London, we dont seem to have come across any?  You may however have come across some of their fragrances.  Based on their current campaign (with stunning photography) the brand have teamed with www.dfrost.com to create a lush tropical backdrop in front of which their products have been showcased.

Mulberry, London

Its been quite a while since we included this brand and what a change of direction in their presentation.  Thankfully the horrible security grille is hidden with this closed backed window scheme and what a difference it makes at night time.  With striking Yellow highlights and we guess their AW16 collection which if you check out this brands website is just staggering.

Banana Republic, London

Banana appear to be on a bit of a sustainability roll; we've spotted an additional nod to sustainability at DKNY along Bond street too and this is a welcomed direction from global brands.  Anthroplogie is still 'King' of them all of course as there schemes always appear to be embedded in a sustainability philosophy.  It is easier of course to throw a lot of money at a scheme to generate impact (which naturally is always appreciated) although the real skill in visual presentation comes from 'working' a scheme to communicate a narrative particularly in large spaces and great to see this speciality brand holding their nerve particularly in such a difficult market.

Hackett, London

Its been a while since we've seen an impressive scheme at Hackett (Sale has dragged on forever).  But, look at this scheme.  The quality and detail of this installation is quite superb and beautifully produced.  Across this run of windows along Regent street is an aeroplane interior space of 1st class quality; the details here are superb, so much so that it is actually very difficult to not mistake this for an actual private jet.

Fenwick, London

We did notice the recent Oud scheme at Fenwick although ran out of time to include it and of course as is the nature of this business, the schemes have moved on and changed again before we had time to feature it.  The latest scheme at Fenwick is a huge promotion for the fantastic Jo Malone with their giant cut outs and out-sized packaging.   We do love a bit of Jo Malone ourselves so this installation is quite a treat.

Alexander McQueen, London

This was quite a difficult scheme to capture given that the daylight in London is lasting until quite late in to the evening; we shouldn't complain.  Also, Etro across the road is so bright that the reflection is difficult to avoid.  That said, this scheme is better captured in a video with their digital media and fantasitc Butterflies and skull prints within a piece of furniture which looks like its referencing the Memphis Group.  Its better to go and see this one if you can.

Oasis, London

With their Tales of The East strap line and a scheme featuring their latest capsule collection inspired by Chinoiserie fabrics and wallpapers from London's Victoria and Albert Museum, Oasis is rocking the Summer look perfectly.  Great to see some references here form historical sources; we dont see this very often (or perhaps its just not something celebrated much) which is a shame as they are such a rich resource to draw inspiration from and so readily available too particularly here in the city.
