Fortnum and Mason, London

As promised we are including a snapshot of some of the main windows at this fantastic store.  This stunning installation includes a whole range of narratives for the current season and just look at how gorgeous these are.  You might notice that there is no product in sight.  Thats confidence for you.  We particularly love the abstract nature of this scheme as the team appear to have adopted a kind of Fine Art approach.  We love it.

Armani Exchange, London

We had a bit of a deja vu moment with this scheme as we were sure we've seen this installation before (or at least the props).  We did initially think that this was something Hugo Boss had done (using nuts and bolts) although it transpires that we had actually seen this scheme in Milan earlier this year.  In this climate there is no shame of course in reusing schemes and many brands are doing it although many do make changes to their props before they reuse them.

Chanel, London

It is quite difficult to know what to say about this scheme as there is so little of it.  It almost appears as if the brand have moved out.  This is however an interesting strategy and they have included so few products in this scheme and just a few mannequins albeit beautifully dressed.  There is one small detail which is the very light markings on the walls and floors which appear to be a nod to the craftsmanship and stitching of the product perhaps?

Michael Kors, London

While we're not big fans of bling ourselves we really do admire how this brand presents itself.  Their latest campaign is very glossy and highly polished with wonderful photography and the products look superb.  The current scheme, looks like it is product-led although we think this is more of a nod to their collections rather than having a direct connection.  Anyway, great production has gone into this scheme.

While we hate the product the scheme is actually very interesting.  We are so thankful to this brand as while we haven't always raved about their schemes they are one of the few that do invest in new installations on a far more regular basis than most.  We also do of course respect the energy it takes to develop these ideas and all of the processes in between before implementation so huge kudos to these guys.

Etro, London

We were trying to work out what this scheme was saying and it appears to be not that much.  We've also just realised that what the brand calls the fluo Pegaso is, to you and me, the flying Pegasus (yes we were rolling our eyes too) which is featured on the back wall of the window space.  A bright Yellow graphic fills most of the window although we do love the fringy base (bottom right).

Ralph Lauren, London


We're currently absolutely fascinated by this new scheme at Ralph Lauren and have been trying to think what it reminds us of.  As always, the quality is superb although there is a strange lifelike feel to it where even the mannequins look as if they are real.  We think it is that kind of Museum diorama effect which we recognise here although obviously without the flea bitten stuffed animals and odd looking neanderthals.  This really is a beautifully produced scheme.

Liberty, London

Has every one in London lost their sense of humour?  Has everyone in Visual Merchandising forgotten how to be interesting, thought provoking or clever?  There is absolutely nothing, and we really mean N-O-T-H-I-N-G that is fun in retail store windows right now.  Even this brand used to win award after award for their window schemes but just look at this current one and you can see that they have lost the will to live.  Can we get a bit more energy in here please?

Besides the fact that this brand make menswear presentation look so interesting and so incredibly effortless (which takes a huge amount of skill) they also always look so incredibly fresh too, don't you think? Louis Vuitton, London

We have the mention right away that we did capture this scheme just before the Queen's Funeral earlier in the week and therefore the reason why there are real flowers in with the prop version although we actually really liked this.  The prop version naturally are gorgeous and quite spectacular in size when you get up close which makes them even more impressive.  This scheme has probably rolled out around the world by now so do go and have a look if you can.

Longchamp, London

There's a little bit of a nod in this scheme to a kind of Artist's studio complete with easels and stools although supported with some large format graphics.  This brands' store along Regent street has quite large window spaces as you can see from our images while their Bond street site has one smaller sized space.  The scheme, we imagine, possibly works better in a smaller space when every is rather more closely grouped together.
