Dolce and Gabbana, London

We haven't seen animal portraits used in windows before but here at Dolce and Gabbana along Bond street they have applied in this repetition format to form the backdrop to the product.  This is a difficult scheme to describe other than that and although this isn't our favourite scheme ever there is a kind of decadence about it that seems to work so well.

Anya Hindmarch, London

This is a very simple scheme at Anya Hindmarch along Bond street right now.  We have seen a few schemes (include Stella McCartney here) which appear to refer to the 'Ascension' trend we heard about from Ms. Edelkoort her very self a few years ago; sometimes these things take time to filter through.  There isn't much more to say about this scheme other than that.

Jimmy Choo, London

Its been quite a while since we saw anything at this brands store along Bond street, well not since their amazing Christmas installation last year at least.  We're guessing that they have split their scheme between male and females here with their boudoir-style installation on the one side of the main entrance and men's dressing room space on the other.  We don't have any information about this scheme to expand on that but great to see that they have something interesting in these quite small spaces.

Delvaux, London

This is one of those brands that has been around for generations, actually since 1829 would you believe and yet we rarely even notice it; in fact we have never noticed it along Bond street before and yet we tread this path on such a regular basis.  What did draw us in was their incredible installation.  Its a shame that we only have still images as the miniature handbags here spin in space and it is quite mesmerising.  Do check it out if you can -  we can't work out how they've done it but it looks incredible.

Chanel, London

These windows were particularly difficult to capture this week as there are so many road works happening around this part of town; not good for any luxury brand.  While we aren't huge fans of the schemes here this one does work rather well, but we won't mention the horrible mannequins with the pin sized heads that for some reason they insist on using, but there you go.  Spelling out the words 'Chanel' in out-sized lettering in a kind of homage to Mondrian, this isn't amazing to look at in a photograph but actually does look quite interesting in real life.

Ermenegildo Zegna, London

Zegna always produce superb quality window installations although we rarely see any humour from them.  That is until now.  With their beautifully dressed mannequins in of course superb and very expensive products, there is at least one brand which lifts the spirits along what otherwise is quite a dull high street right now.  Complete with diving flippers, snorkel and breathing apparatus thankfully Zegna are investing in their Visual Merchandising (which is absolutely the right thing to do when the going gets tough).

Longchamp, London

We saw this scheme in Miami recently although as the sunshine was so bright it was difficult to appreciate the fantastic glow from these beautiful spirals.  It is always difficult also to describe a theme which is quite abstract, afterall where do you go next with a description other than that?  We would of course love to see some clever humour being injected into schemes although as the world seems to be in crisis and retailers seem to need to attract just about anyone into their stores its no wonder everyone appears to be adopting a similar approach.

Moschino, London

This has to be one of the best schemes we have spotted at Moschino in a long time.  Rocking a kind of Hellraiser-look, and lets face it, this is rather creepy, multiple wires appear planted into this mannequins head.  Who knows what the actual references are here (there are so many we can think of) although this scheme does photograph rather well and stopped us in our tracks so job well done we think.

Ralph Lauren, London

If there ever was a window display which reflects the London aesthetic then this is probably it.  Gone is the Pink/ Orange light of Miami and we're back in the blue-ish daylight of London.  Of course, Ralph Lauren never fail to disappoint and the layers here are both appropriate and work so perfectly for this brand.  With references to what appears to be an historical stately home rather than the Art Deco-style apartments we usually find here this scheme has been beautifully produced.

Away, Los Angeles

Along the iconic Melrose Avenue here in Los Angeles is the fantastic luggage brand 'Away' and the UK-based creative design agency, Just So have recently designed and realised this incredible brands West Coast expansion.  Inspired by the L.A. vibe, this stunning store complete with polished statuario Quartz and bespoke 45-degree angled mirrored walls,  its no wonder that this brand is a favourite of the glitterati.

Art Deco Architecture, Miami

In our final entry of the fabulous Miami we thought it would be interesting to show some of the amazing Art Deco hotels (OK, not exactly retail store windows but great for inspiration nonetheless) as well as the former home (above) of the incredibly talented Gianni Versace (who would have been 70 this year) and who tragically died on the steps of his former mansion (now a restaurant) right on the beach front.  The hotels here vary in size and the colours are staggering particularly in the Pink/Orange daylight in this part of the world.  We're making our way back to Grey Old London and of course will bring you the latest schemes from across the city.

Isabel Marant, Miami

We included this brands windows back in London recently although strangely we have never been inside any of their stores, until now.  We were drawn in because of this incredible seating installation at the centre of the space.  It actually looks like a shaggy dog, albeit a very large one, although its great fun and forms a fantastic focal point within the space.

Christian Louboutin, Miami

There's nothing like a fantastic Louboutin scheme to lift the spirits.  Even with the intensity of the daylight here this scheme really does POP.  Just a few products punctuate this scheme as one would expect from a luxury brand and we seem to remember seeing this scheme elsewhere around the world via social media although we hadn't seen it in the 'flesh' ourselves until now.
