Zara Home, Milan

By pure coincidence we happened upon this launch event at Zara Home here in Milan and the team here very kindly allowed us access passed the velvet ropes and Red carpet in order to capture some of the installations within the interior.  We have never seen Zara Home looking so interesting and with this window scheme by Simon Costin and its a welcomed relief from the kind of thing we would normally expect to see.

iblues, Milan

This is another brand we are unfamiliar with although its making quite a statement on the high street here in Milan.  Aimed at 'a young, bold and curious woman, who is receptive to the world of fashion' the scheme here certainly communicates this clearly.  Their website however isn't quite as much fun although perhaps decide this for yourself.

Marella, Milan

We have never seen this brand before but wow what an amazing scheme and great to see them make such an enormous effort.  With cartoon-like spectacles and an origami backdrop with a nod to the tropical in colours which zing along with the product this is quite a corker of a scheme.  Go and check them out if you can.

La Rinascente, Milan

We're in Milan for a while checking out what is happening in Visual Merchandising and there really are some treats coming soon to show you all.  We begin of course with the amazing La Rinascente in Duomo and the centre of it all.  Paolo Pivi's 'I'm tired of eating fish', curated by Cloe Piccoli fills the windows at this amazing department store, showing eight Bears each with its own name and which represent a 'fantastic wider narrative set in infinite time and unspecified context',  If you happen to be here in Milan do go and check out this work.

Fenwick, London

In celebration of the recent International Women's day the fabulous Fenwicks and Lights of Soho collaborated with the team at www.millingtonassociates.com to create 'Women of Neon' which is an Art installation curated by Alexa Pearson and celebrates both up and coming and established female neon Artists creating Art.  The installation explores the darkness of human life, existence and emotion using visual puns, bawdy humour (we like that) and commentary on human identity.  Just check out those peep holes...!

Brunello Cucinelli, London

If you want to see some beautiful photography then do check out this brands website.  Their latest scheme ties in very nicely with their website too with their 'home' context and is a good example of some joined up thinking.

Patek Philippe, London

Its always quite sad when products have to be removed from window schemes at night time in order to keep them away from the ram raiders which seem so determined to simply take such expensive products as it can really 'kill' a scheme unless its designed to work without them.  Fortunately at Patek Philippe the scheme is very strong in its colour and finish and we guess this is another installation referencing the current Russian exhibition at the Royal Academy?

Prada, London

We know we are repeating ourselves when we say this, but if you ever need inspiration for the use of colour or amazing colour combinations then look no further than Prada.  As ever, delicious products, wonderful textures, style and of course perfect presentation.

Dsquared2, London

There's nothing like a good old reference to London to add a bit of cache and a sense of the 'cool' to a scheme.  The Union flag is used the world over to get that 'London look' and mixed with some amazingly textured products, a bit of digital media and beautiful photography where could you go wrong we ask ourselves.  Although a bit of irony or humour wouldn't go amiss.

Chanel, London

We happened to pass by when this scheme was being installed and had anticipated seeing large digital screens being added on completion although this is far more interesting.  We've been racking our brains trying to think of what this is called....possibly a computer data / telecommunications data storage system, all complete with flashing lights and wires, lots of wires.  This is possibly the best scheme we have ever seen from this brand.

Havaianas, London

If you happen to be either in White City or Carnaby street then do check out this scheme from Havaianas.  Miniature favelas fill their windows to launch a new collection of their flips flops designed in collaboration with Ricardo Negro who's spirited paintings of San Paulo were at the heart of this project.  These beautiful images have been printed at a large scale on Fomex and layered between vinyl graphics.  Bring on the Summer we say.

Ralph Lauren, London

Another winning scheme from Ralph Lauren with their flora covered backdrop and amazing products.  There isn't a great deal for us to comment on here although there is one notable point and that is that they have used Black figures in their windows.  We cant remember a time when a brand used all Black mannequins in their windows and it is sadly quite difficult to even find mannequins that represent any ethnicity in schemes which is slightly odd given the diversity of the shopping public although this is possibly because nearly everyone is using quite generic human / abstract forms with no discernible features (although they do still tend to be in a White finish nonetheless)  We just wanted to celebrate this important point which may otherwise go overlooked and great to see RL leading the way.

Topshop, London

We always feel that we have to rush to get this brands' schemes online as they change them so quickly that its often already yesterday news and of course we like to keep our entries here current.  For their latest scheme the team have used this fantastic neon back drop which still allows the passersby to see into and around the space beyond and glows beautifully across Oxford street here in the centre of it all.
