Fendi, New York

Naturally as this is such an enormous city there are several of these stores and what is great to view is that they all look so different.  We have also visited their store along 5th Avenue and their pop up on the corner of Greene street and Prince street which has a smaller version of their 'grabber' scheme which we posted recently in London.  This one however references flight and parachutes, with some miniature items, we guess from their range although similar to the ones produced for the Theatre de la Mode between 1945 - 1946.

Coach, New York

We've really grown to like this brand.  We have never bought their products but the schemes here just get better and better.  And they reference them on their website too.  This is a big plus.  This season an illuminated Manhattan cityscape forms the background in front of which the product has been placed.  There is also the addition of the rail track similar to the one which we also shared with you yesterday at Calvin Klein.  Having now scanned the city, we haven't seen any more but it is great fun and a bit of good old humor which of course is always appreciated.

Calvin Klein, New York

We are always excited to see what this brand are going to do at this store in New York (sadly they don't appear to do much else anywhere else).  Here at the Calvin Klein store a Black train installation runs through the windows.  We were here late at night as per usual (and in the freezing cold) but we did manage to capture a video of the windows even though the trains werent running (possibly leaves on the track?)  You can check out our video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mzm1enmM-pw  The installation is by (those clearly clever guys) at http://www.snarkitecture.com/projects/calvin-klein/  Just check out their website for more information.

Bergdorf Goodman, New York

For the next few weeks we are bringing to you some of the best windows in New York.  We're starting with probably the most glamorous and intense schemes here in this incredible city at the specialty store Bergdorf Goodman.  If you want to feel wowed then look no further than this store.  Staggeringly beautiful, the scheme this year is based on the Arts, from Film, Theatre, Architecture, Music.  The attention to detail is second to none.  We made a video so that you could really appreciate the experience https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPC7TPaRYk&list=UUsubIQJFMNM6ZVPlgxA4MaQ

Desigual, London

La Vida es Chula or Life is Cool apparently (in case you were wondering).  Desigual are highlighting their Spanish roots this season with a strapline in an illuminated heart shape.  We love the writing but just dont mention motifs to us.  This has been a very sexy window all year here at the store along Regent street in the centre of London and this installation is no exception.  With its vampy semi-dressed mannequins and giant teddy bear complete with lipstick, 'lashes and Black lacy knickers we cant help feeling how cold they all look.  But then thats probably age speaking.  Incidentally, the teddy bear is not actually drooling, this is the reflection of the lights outside on the street.

Orvis, London

We had never realised that this brand had such a rich heritage until we came across it quite recently and decided to drill down a little further to find out more about them. With their origins stretching back to 1856 in Vermont, USA, it really was amazing to discover where they have come from.  What is also interesting is their commitment not just to sustainability, which is rather impressive, but also how supportive they are of a wide variety of campaigns and associations.  A very ethical brand here and quite unique in this respect.  Anyway, their Christmas campaign references their origins complete with digital snow scene and signage applying a symmetric product handling dynamic.

Chanel, London

We haven't included this brand much over the year, only because we either just run out of time or also we are always left feeling a little deflated when we see their schemes.  We understand the connection with their catwalk shows but the schemes just don't seem to appear to translate into their windows very well?  The Christmas scheme of course looks a whole lot better than some of the previous ones; a Gold and White illustrated grand interior with highlights of Golden baubles and Golden products actually looks, well very nice.  There we said something positive about the scheme.

Topman, London

This has always been a difficult brand to work with (we havent included them for a while so we may have said that previously) although we have to say they are looking really good right now.  With their revolving shiny Golden pyramid and collective of mannequins (is it collective of mannequins?  a group maybe?) Topman is looking more Vegas than London this Yuletide.  To truly appreciate the effect here we have included a very short video to demonstrate what it does.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbQ91p0JDg4

Anthropologie, London

One of our favourite brands of the year (well actually always really) has to be Anthropologie.  With a creative team who are masters of prop making this season, for Christmas a giant Robin is flying through their windows above a miniature landscape complete with surrounding branches and leaves.  The complex simplicity of what this brand does is always so staggering.  We cant wait to show you what this brand are doing in NYC; coming soon.

Selfridges, London

This year celebrating the art of story telling and enchantment is the Selfridges Christmas offer.  What this brand do so well or perhaps most other brands do so badly is that they are all clearly talking to each other across the various departments (we are guessing of course but a good indication is that the installation is explained and highlighted on their website too so some really great joined up thinking).  The windows are very prop heavy making this quite a spectacle; we will have to go back to look several times as there is so much to see and experience.  Job perfectly done then.  If you do want a magical experience then look no further, the Golden London cab complete with out sized Paddington Bear and Honey pot is particularly impressive.  The narrative is clear, fun and this scheme just oozes the Christmas spirit beautifully.  (Apologies for the gushing, it just looks so good)

Bershka, London

Bershka have had a really interesting year this year and we have loved the creativity coming from this brand.  Not easy to do when there are so many similar brands on the high street and an ever thinly sliced demographic.  OK, well star motifs are not our favourite thing in the world but with a bit of neon and a slightly kaleidoscopic effect it does make this more interesting.  The high gloss floor which looks almost like water and carefully and seemingly randomly positioned realistic mannequins completes this installation.

Dover Street Market, London

Another delicious installation at Dover Street Market right now by Simone Rocha and J Brand.  Gorgeous Reds, Pink and Black dressed bust forms in a repetition format complete with tulle covered heads.

Ralph Lauren, London

Wow, how incredibly glamorous does Ralph Lauren look right now?  This monochromatic scheme clearly references the glamour of the old movie stars although apart from that we don't know much more.  It appears that their social media hasn't kept pace with this seasons offer so we can only guess.  However do have a quick look at our video as even in its simplicity it does make the scheme come a little more alive.
