Burberry, London

We've spotted a lot of digital schemes out there on the high street recently which of course we can completely understand given the circumstances and naturally they are low maintenance.  However, there is the danger that this sets a precedence for these kinds of installations and that they can become the norm which in turn takes away the Art and Design from Visual merchandising and retail store windows.  Things do move on and change of course although this is not necessarily the best solution if you want to grab and maintain the attention of the passersby.  Watch this space we guess.

Moncler, London

This brand really have embraced digital technology in their windows for quite some time now.  They do of course produce some very interesting installations with their flashing lights, key words and moving visuals although we rather liked the amazing installations which they used to have across their stores which were always dynamic and fun narratives.  It might be the case that this of installation is a temporary measure given that its relatively easy to update however hopefully it wont be at the expense of the amazing prop-led schemes which we always loved so much.

Fortnum and Mason, London

We have really missed being out there looking at the latest schemes from brands like this.  The whole store has been illuminated in a fabulous shade of Blue with their windows filled with wonderful props.  Time for Tea is their latest promotion which we are guessing is (at least in part) promoting their afternoon tea experience inside the store.  Social distancing will of course be very important to the brand and we're confidant that you can still have a wonderful experience here.  So, get yourself out there and enjoy the delights of this amazing place.  Check out the side windows too.  Great to see so many brands picking up on the need help to save the planet.

Louis Vuitton, London

After many months of lockdowns, shutdowns, no travel, no socialising, and so on, we are finally allowed out and about to explore the delights of all things visual.  Naturally, not everything is open here yet however new window schemes have been going in and we are getting closer to some kind of normality.  Here at this staggering brand, their new scheme has gone in and just wow.  With a bright Green back drop and large scale props and amazing styling makes us realise how much we miss being out there to see this stuff.

Burberry, Sarabande, London

This is our final post for 2020 as we have now exhausted our supply of images and of course are not only restricted in movement across the city but also only retailers who are offering essentials are open.  What a disaster of a year.  However, there have been some interesting pockets of creativity which we have seen during this time and we leave you with the latest installation at Burberry along Regent street and the work from Sarabande, The House of Bandits.  Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas, a happy holiday or maybe it's just another Friday.  Have a great one anyway and we will be back soon.

Selfridges, London

We thought we would end our Christmas posts on a huge high and where better than this brand.  As always the team here delivers the most incredible installations which are clever, thoughtful and well, let's face it, rather spectacular.  We only have one entry left for Christmas day and then we will be quiet for a short while until we reach the other side of this pandemic or at least when its safe again to explore the delights which London has to offer.

Topshop, London

This might be the final scheme we see from this brand.  Very sad, we know.  With the current state of the world and everything seemingly spiralling out of control this really is a very sad turn of events.  We needn't go into the history of the brand as this is well documented and we won't begin biting at its owners (the history of this is also well documented) however many people have lost their jobs and its where we began our careers.  We can only hope that there is a solution on the horizon.

Burberry, London

This brand  have gone mostly digital this season and goodness only knows how they even managed to do this given the circumstances and so many stores.  Clearly a very hardworking team.  We didn't quite understand the content of the video ourselves although to be fair we didn't spend that much time looking at it.  However we do hope that they don't continue down this route into 2021 as we quite liked to see what they do with their windows and large screens are not very exciting to look at.   Bring on the wonderful props again we say.

Hackett, London

Well, thats Christmas cancelled, at least here in London as we now enter yet another Government Tier of restrictions which essentially is just another lockdown albeit with another name.  We really feel the despair of the retailers out there who are really suffering from this virus and yet all we  can really do is keep our fingers crossed for them and hope that they are able to keep going.  When brands like this have teams who work so hard to bring us their wonderful schemes it would be a tragedy to see them disappear from the high street.  Let's hope 2021 is a better time for them.

Prada, London

Our still images dont really do this scheme justice although we have also seen some really great versions of this installation across social media and we're not quite sure London got the best deal anyway.  Nevertheless, what a great way to nod to the season and show product too.

Emporio Armani, London

This scheme is possibly not at the top of list of favourites from the season although this is what is out there and we like to include as many different types of windows as possible.  We have seen some great, although sometimes simple schemes in these windows during the year, remember those gorgeous palms we showed you a while ago?  Anyway, baubles in a range of repetition formats feature in the windows here at Armani Exchange.

Fendi, London

We have seen some really warm and calming schemes from this brand over 2020 which have been a pleasure to view.  It is always a shame however that these luxury brands have put such horrible security grilles behind their schemes though.  We completely understand the reason why, security, obvs, although wouldn't it have been better to have had a solid plain White one behind the installation rather than this heavy Black one? (we bet this was a male decision).  Anyway, as always a great quality scheme even if the background is doing it no favours.

Ermenegildo Zegna, London

As this is the season for giving it was great to see that this brand are doing just that.  Support the Reforestation in Oasi (its in Northern Italy in case you were wondering) is their strap line right now and apparently the founder has planted over 500,000 conifer trees already (we cant imagine that he did it personally of course) and a noble cause it is too.  Although luxury brands have taken quite a long time to catch with the concept of sustainability it is great to see them making a contribution back to the environment even if it is something the latest generation are demanding.
