Maison Margiela, Milan

If you ever saw the amazing exhibition at Somerset House back in London several years ago then you you would be an absolute convert to this brand.  We don't often have the opportunity to capture the windows back home as security is so tight however here in Milan they have a far more relaxed attitude it seems and here we have a full Maison Margiela scheme without the horrible security grilles.

Fay, Milan

This is a new find for us here in Milan and a brand which we have never come across previously.  While the product is not the most exciting we have ever seen they clearly do invest in their visual merchandising which is a great thing to see.  Rocking the Summer season look, complete with beach huts, lighthouse and seaside seating is Fay right now.

Louis Vuitton, Milan

Wow, we do love a scheme from LV and while we wait for the anticipated launch of the Maison back in London (we don't yet know when it will open but we will share some images of the windows once it does) here's a taster of one of their magnificent windows here in Milan.  Rocking the tropical trend right now and looking very Green indeed is their store here complete with hanging chair and beautiful tropical plants.

10 Corso Como, Milan

You just cant beat a good old peruse around 10 Corso Como here in Milan and it is somewhere we always make a bee-line for when visiting this incredible city.  Luxury goods by the truck load to look through (not that we ever actually buy any of it, although we would if we could) and the most delicious book shop ever, all in conjunction with some amazing exhibitions.  We included their newly added store in NYC earlier in the year although you just cant top the original.

Burberry, Milan

One of the wonderful things about design week here in Milan is that nearly all retailers get in on the act too and all of the windows change in celebration.  Does this happen anywhere else?  We dont think so.  Here are Burberry, large sized letters and an even larger sized baby fawn all wrapped in Brown tape is their contribution to this fantastic event.

Hans Boodt Mannequins, Milan

We went to see this showroom recently and it really was incredible.  Right in the heart of the Tortona design district of Milan, Hans Boodt mannequins have collaborated with the amazing Pantone in celebration of design week to create this wonderful limited edition.  Using the colour of the year,  Pantone 16-1546, or Living Coral, has resulted in a stunning partnership between these amazing brands.

Rimowa, Milan

We're finding a lot of deconstruction and reconstruction of materials here in Milan right now and it is so interesting to see how this is filtering down to the high street (or should we say across as in the case of this brand?).  Rimowa are rocking the components which create their delicious (and pricey) products right now in this amazing city.

There isn't a lot we can say about this scheme other than mention the fringing which forms a kind of theatrical set around the product however it is great to see that this brand are doing a lot more here in Milan than they are at their store back in London.

Tods, Milan

We do love a great Tods scheme and this one in Milan which we happened upon is absolutely that.  We so often peruse the delights of Bond street and gorgeous luxury (well, looking is free, right?) and always check out their window schemes but haven't yet come across this one.  With a slight whiff of an explosion in a handbag, trainer/sneaker paint factory (meant in a good way) this scheme is quite a corker.

Trussardi, Milan

This is one brand we just don't hear of very much anymore although dating back to 1911 it has a wonderful history founded by Dante Trussadi originally as a glove maker.  Anyway, there is a wonderful history behind this Fashion house so it really is worth digging around to find out more.  In the meantime, rocking the stripes right now is their store here in a very warm Milan.

Versace, Milan

Sadly we missed the Versace Home Exhibition here in Milan as the tickets were clearly snapped up super fast however we can at least enjoy their window schemes.  Back in London, this brand don't tend to do very much on the visual front however here in Milan, wow, a great scheme.  We're not fans of the product ourselves but just look at this chair.

Berluti, Milan

This brand has quite a small store back in London so it was such a pleasure to happen upon their store here in the centre of Milan.  Obviously we are approaching the holiday season and in true luxury strategy the main window here nods very vigorously to the season complete with inflatable ring and deckchair.

Balenciaga, Milan

This brand almost appears as if the store is about to close down with such minimal product and nothing particularly visual to look at.  This store, which is very similar to their one in New York which we featured at some point during the Christmas period naturally carries very desirable merchandise although our hopes of bagging a cheaper bargain were rather dashed; products are only very marginally cheaper here than anywhere else in the world.
