VM and Display Awards. London

If you were not at the VM and Display Awards this week then sadly you missed a treat.  With the very gregarious Louis Spence hosting the event it was amazing so see such talent in just one space.  Congratulations to all of this winners this year.  In a period of austerity and uncertainty these guys constantly delivered some amazing schemes which kept us entertained, delighted and amazed.

Harrods, London

Dolce and Gabbana are rocking London right now with a multitude of schemes - just check this one out at Harrods.  We don't under estimate the amount of work that has gone in to the planning and execution of this installation and judging by the crowds everyone appears wowed by this latest scheme for the season.  Is there anything that Dolce and Gabbana don't do?  From women's tailoring, to cosmetics, millennials to eyewear, everything is covered at this impressive run of windows in Knightsbridge right now.

Hackett, London

Magic schemes are right on trend at the moment; check out Bloomingdales in New York if you can.  This brand never fails to deliver and as always remains one of those brands to keep an eye on throughout 2018.  A sumptuous installation, perfectly executed and great product.  What more could you ask for?

H&M, London

If you haven't seen H&M then this is a corker of a scheme.  Working in collaboration with Shona Heath these handmade larger-than-life animals are superb.  We've seen these in New York too and they really are quite magical.  Do drop by the brands Oxford Circus store if you can as this scheme is really worth checking out, and, if you are in New York there are even more of these creatures to view. Not a Christmas tree or Silver Birch in sight - refreshing.

Gucci, London

Stunning product and a window glowing across Sloane street; it has to be Gucci.  The beautifully neon trimmed scheme forming the backdrop to the presentation of their latest collection is quite stunning.  There is no obvious narrative here although it is worth mentioning that this is completely different from their 'bubble-head' scheme which we've spotted along Bond street (sadly the security grilles are always in place at their Bond street store during the night when we are out and about which is why we haven't included that scheme here).

Fortnum and Mason, London

With their Together we're Merrier scheme Fortnum and Mason have once again put the Art back into retail.  The latest dynamic installation from the team here were difficult to capture because of the amount of people taking their obligatory selfies - endorsement indeed.  What an amazingly visual year again for this staggering brand and super talented team.

Celebrating with a Baroque Christmas this year Fenwick which has been on our personal ones to watch list have done it again.  Throughout 2017 the team here have produced some amazing schemes and great to see some great quality installations coming from this brand once again.  Do check them out along Bond street as this store is really worth visiting.

With a different installation across all of their stores and a mega installation at Harrods right now (images to follow shortly) this brand is rocking the high street with some amazing schemes.  The images here are from their Sloane Street site and demonstrates how incredibly hard the team here must have been working all year round to have such enormous differentiation across their brands' stores.  We salute you.

Dior, London

We are not quite sure how seasonal this installation is although it is of course a relief not to view tonnes of Christmas trees and twinkling lights.  With a good old nod to Nostalgia this Hot Air Ballon installation has been superbly produced and installed at the brands Sloane Street and Bond Street sites (and probably at a store near to you too.)

Diesel, London

'Saying no to uncool wool' is the strapline for Diesel this Christmas (as in naff Christmas sweaters) although we did have to check out their website to clarify this as on initial viewing we did rather interpret this scheme - at this irreverent brand - as highlighting their kinkier side if you get our drift?   (Particularly as the mannequins in their Black finish do look slightly sinister).  Cu'mon you did too, right?  Life-sized sheep in a box wearing clothing, for the person in your life that has everything else?  This cheeky little scheme did have the Arab community around Knightsbridge where we captured this scheme looking rather puzzled although great fun it is too.

Debenhams, London

Debenhams have been looking so good throughout 2017 and of course their latest scheme is dazzling.  With their 'You Shall....' strapline and mountains of sparkling advent-coloured baubles, backdrops and props the team have pulled off yet another blinding scheme at their Oxford Street store - no easy task for such a monolithic brand for sure.  This scheme has to be seen in person though as the glow from the colour across Oxford street, particularly at night-time is incredible.

Clarks, London

It must be incredibly hard work to take a brand like Clarks, send it into the stratosphere and keep it there, but this is what the team have done yet again throughout 2017.  Their latest installation with the strapline 'Magic is in the Making' is another corker from this staggering brand.  Do go and check this out if you can as what we cant capture in a still image is the conveyor belt of products moving across the windows of this flagship store along Regent street.
