Ahlens, Stockholm

We are currently looking at the delights of Stockholm for inspiration from a city which seems to be continually being mentioned as the place for some great design.  Here at the fantastic department store Ahlens we came across this installation named 'Clouds' which essentially is a rug made from the remnants from Muji's production line and designed by Studio Brieditis and Evans.  The rug was created on location at the Atelier Gallery Muji in Tokyo in the Autumn of 2017 and is a design project which is ecological, socially focused and actually for sale too.  We have a few more entries from this part of Europe which we will share over the next few days.

If there is one show on our hit list then its this.  If you have been fortunate to visit yourself then we are hugely jealous as this is one of those events of a lifetime that should be seen.  SUBHUMAN, INHUMAN, SUPERHUMAN, an exhibition by the avant garde designer Rick Owens, was kept very quiet (although we did know about it ourselves of course but unable to get there).  Featured here, beyond the amazing products, were the fantastic new figures by our amazing friends at www.proportionlondon.com  In fact they produced an army of a 100 androgynous figures for the show at the Triennale De Milano.   If you feel in need of inspiration then look no further.

Topshop / Topman, London

While its still freezing cold here in London, SS18 has already launched at the mega-brands Topshop and Topman here in the centre of it all.  Of course these brands have great style and right at the forefront of the high street with their beautiful bust forms courtesy of www.global-display.co  Do check out their website as this supplier to some of the best on the high street is producing some amazing key pieces.

Versace, London

Its been a long time since we included the London store for this brand although they haven't done very much for a while window wise for us to share with you, however the brand appears to have been injected with some energy as the window schemes have finally changed into something interesting.  We do enjoy the use of neon in store windows and while this isn't the most exciting design we are pleased to see that they have at least made some effort.

Salvatore Ferragamo, London

This scheme doesn't say a lot to us although we like to include what is happening right now out there on the high street.  Beyond the use of the bands of colours applied here there isn't much else we can say about this scheme, although we guess this is an installation indicative of this time of year.

Missoni, London

We've begun to spot the use of fringing in various formats around town at the moment and while Missoni dont tend to do very much in the form of Visual Merchandising this glittery backdrop is quite uplifting during the cold weather we are experiencing here in the centre of it all.

Gucci, London

We can always rely on Gucci to deliver beautiful schemes and this one at their Sloane street site with its tartan backdrop and embroidered dog faces works beautifully with their current product range.  We still have the remnants of their old scheme with the Pink neon lights of course although of course the product changes continuously.

Louis Vuitton, London

We recently included the window scheme at this brands Maison store along Bond street but as always, the smaller stores have a very different treatment.  We love the subtle humour in their schemes and as always the props are superbly produced.  A whole range of different dogs have been playfully positioned across this store in Sloane street here in the centre of it all.

Harvey Nichols, London

Its been a while since we had a look around Knightsbridge and of course in this super luxurious part of town the windows never disappoint.  Harvey Nichols are giving a huge nod to Spring with this very Green installation and their usual gravity defying style with mannequins precariously perched vertically within their vast window spaces.  You cant beat a bit of theatre in store windows.

Canada Goose, London

This is the first time we've noticed this store along Regent street so it must be quite new.  Fur is the last thing on our list of things to wear (and quite unnecessary as a trim really?).  That said, although we haven't had the opportunity to look around the interior of this space it is great to see new brands refreshing the high street and with their X-ray-like graphics both on the fenestration and forming the backdrop it is great at least to see brands like this making an effort.  We will keep an eye on what they do over the coming months and share with you as we make our way through the rest of 2018.

Lanvin, London

This isn't the most exciting scheme we've seen from Lanvin although it is indicative of this time of year when all of the more 'abstract' schemes are wheeled out and installed into windows around town (well some places at least).  If you have the opportunity do visit their store in Paris along the Rue St. Honore which is much larger and more creative energy appears to be injected into their schemes.

Liberty, London

Launching their Colour Collectors scheme, Treasures edited by the Liberty Bowerbirds, it is great to see some colour injected into the high street during these dark Winter months.  We are hoping that the recent collaboration with London College of Fashion will feature in their windows at some point as the work is particularly exciting, invigorating and would make an amazing installation here at their iconic store, however we guess its a case of what-this-space.
