Isabel Marant, London

We can always count on this brand to install some kind of Art installation and this one for their AW17 collection is called United Pipople.  How do we know this you may ask?  Well, they are one of the few brands that explain what they are doing on their website.  Described as "A bevy of masks to perform the human comedy, a gallery of human and joyous portraits".  Their site further suggests that "There is an urgent need to put a smile on people's faces".  Well they aren't wrong there.

Zara, London

As most of London's stores are bathed in Red and White graphics and we have moaned a little about the current lack of innovation, at least Zara have made an effort which is much appreciated.  Sale windows are so under utilised and so few retailers tend to use this period as an opportunity to produce something creative.  However, just look at this scheme.  A sea of Red and White deckchairs complete with ice boxes fills this stores windows on the corner of Bond and Oxford street.

Hermes, London

You know we are about to gush when we include an Hermes window, right?  So, here goes.  As always fantastic props at their Bond street store with of course their beautiful hand made products by some of the most talented artisans in the world and consistency in delivery always guaranteed.  Outsized props (we imagine representing their trade) with Silver metallic needles and scissors.  A great piece of theatre and an oasis of Visual Merchandising on an otherwise very dull high street.

Loewe, London

With so much of London in the Sale period we have been struggling to find any innovation or actually anything interesting, however we've dug a little deeper and thankfully there are some gems out there including this scheme at Loewe.  A beautifully crafted outsized grasshopper in a Gold finish placed on top of layers of gorgeous coloured felts.  Thank goodness for the luxury brands, eh..!

Ermenegildo Zegna, London

We don't quite understand this concept from Zegna right now although having taken a cursory glance at their website in order to make a connection here the SS18 campaign looks very exciting.  We're guessing as they are in Sale this is an interim scheme?  Who knows?  But anyway, do check out their launch of their collection next year complete with tangerine lawns.  This brand never seem to skimp on their catwalk shows and always look mightily impressive.  In the meantime, this is their Bond street store.

Uniqlo, London

With Wimbledon in full swing, thankfully there are some brands still out there embracing this major event.  Who knew Kei Nishikori was the brand ambassador for Uniqlo eh..!  As we would expect, lots of tennis balls and bits grassy lawn supported with the largest graphic ever of the Japanese player himself fill this scheme at their Oxford Street store.

Mulberry, London

Its always so difficult to talk about a window scheme when retailers adopt this kind of strategy.  Fixtures, well, lets be honest, shelves, just don't do very much for us and all the theatre and injection of creativity seems to evaporated in just a matter of weeks.  We're guessing that everyone is tightening their belts at the moment and making everything last although this really defeats the object of what Visual Merchandising is all about, i.e. to entice the customer into the store and make the experience a pleasurable one which ultimately will create brand ambassadors (this is just one element of VM of course).  In the meantime we can only really show you whats happening out there and it aint puurrdy.

Philipp Plein, London

We've never included this brand before, probably as they dont tend to have schemes as such or at least they dont change very much so we usually just keep on walking.  However, this giant skull encrusted with crystals drew us in.  The store aesthetic is not to our preference and with a little bit of research it transpires these have been designed by Italian Architects; this makes sense (we probably shouldn't say any more than that).  We will drop by again here in the future and as this brand is pitched at the luxury level hopefully we will see something new here shortly.

Polo, Ralph Lauren, London

Its that time of year again here in London and while most retailers appear to have abandoned the traditional calendar with graphics rearing its ugly head across so much of the high street there are still pockets of interest out there for us to share with you.  Thankfully a few retailers have embraced the spirit of the season and this scheme at Polo Ralph Lauren in conjunction with www.tenn-ltd.com and Alu gives us hope that better times are ahead.

Fendi, London

Thankfully we have found a few gems out there on the high street to show you and this one at Fendi glows beautifully across Bond street.  With their coloured graphic stacked boxes and what look like coloured fury worms in glass, brick-shaped boxes (the colours are much brighter in life) this is a welcomed installation on an otherwise very dull high street right now.  Cu'mon London whats going on?

Etro, London

There is so little excitement on the high street at the moment it seems and it appears that a lot of brands have ditched their schemes in favour of generic installations (not all but a lot).  This scheme is quite difficult to describe to you beyond the fact that it has shelves.  Hopefully this week we can bring you some corkers so hang on in there and we will see what we can find to share with you.

Chanel, London

The windows at Chanel seem to be getting so much better recently.  For such a long time they looked very unloved but clearly someone is putting a bit of energy behind them and the brand are investing in some interesting props.  Its not easy having to so many stores to look after for sure and while we still dont like the mannequins they use this scheme is quite well produced.  With their cut out chandeliers and cityscape backdrops against a beautiful Blue this scheme is certainly one of their best.  We now just need to turn down the lights at LV across the road unless someone wants to hold a Black cloth for us?
