Mulberry, London

Its always so difficult to talk about a window scheme when retailers adopt this kind of strategy.  Fixtures, well, lets be honest, shelves, just don't do very much for us and all the theatre and injection of creativity seems to evaporated in just a matter of weeks.  We're guessing that everyone is tightening their belts at the moment and making everything last although this really defeats the object of what Visual Merchandising is all about, i.e. to entice the customer into the store and make the experience a pleasurable one which ultimately will create brand ambassadors (this is just one element of VM of course).  In the meantime we can only really show you whats happening out there and it aint puurrdy.

Philipp Plein, London

We've never included this brand before, probably as they dont tend to have schemes as such or at least they dont change very much so we usually just keep on walking.  However, this giant skull encrusted with crystals drew us in.  The store aesthetic is not to our preference and with a little bit of research it transpires these have been designed by Italian Architects; this makes sense (we probably shouldn't say any more than that).  We will drop by again here in the future and as this brand is pitched at the luxury level hopefully we will see something new here shortly.

Polo, Ralph Lauren, London

Its that time of year again here in London and while most retailers appear to have abandoned the traditional calendar with graphics rearing its ugly head across so much of the high street there are still pockets of interest out there for us to share with you.  Thankfully a few retailers have embraced the spirit of the season and this scheme at Polo Ralph Lauren in conjunction with www.tenn-ltd.com and Alu gives us hope that better times are ahead.

Fendi, London

Thankfully we have found a few gems out there on the high street to show you and this one at Fendi glows beautifully across Bond street.  With their coloured graphic stacked boxes and what look like coloured fury worms in glass, brick-shaped boxes (the colours are much brighter in life) this is a welcomed installation on an otherwise very dull high street right now.  Cu'mon London whats going on?

Etro, London

There is so little excitement on the high street at the moment it seems and it appears that a lot of brands have ditched their schemes in favour of generic installations (not all but a lot).  This scheme is quite difficult to describe to you beyond the fact that it has shelves.  Hopefully this week we can bring you some corkers so hang on in there and we will see what we can find to share with you.

Chanel, London

The windows at Chanel seem to be getting so much better recently.  For such a long time they looked very unloved but clearly someone is putting a bit of energy behind them and the brand are investing in some interesting props.  Its not easy having to so many stores to look after for sure and while we still dont like the mannequins they use this scheme is quite well produced.  With their cut out chandeliers and cityscape backdrops against a beautiful Blue this scheme is certainly one of their best.  We now just need to turn down the lights at LV across the road unless someone wants to hold a Black cloth for us?

Moschino, London

We're not the biggest fans of this brand ourselves although they do produce some interesting schemes.  We're also trying to work out what this huge prop is in their window and we're guessing that it refers to their 'This is not a Moschino Toy' element of their campaign, but who knows?  Anyway, they do turn these schemes around quite frequently although we wont be buying any of their products any day soon.

Patek Philippe, London

We only realised that there were figures incorporated into this scheme when we photographed it.  These wonderful organic forms in stunning colours is the scheme at Patek Philippe right now.  OK, its not quite the same without the product in it although as we have to capture schemes when daylight fades to avoid reflection on the glass and the cost of the merchandise in an area which is like a ghost town at night time it is quite understandable.  Still, another beautiful scheme from this premium brand.

D-squared, London

It looks like AW17 is already here and we are barely passed June.  We did slightly wince, buttock clench, suck in our cheeks, purse our lips (oh you get the idea) when we saw this scheme.  As regular readers will know as we are rather tired with Silver Birches in window schemes; it always works well of course and thats not to say this scheme is terrible, but this type of scheme just keeps on popping up and we just need to move on.

Bulgari, London

Bulgari dont tend to change their windows often although when they do they are of course (as one would expect) beautifully produced.  We're not entirely sure what they are alluding too although given the season and some of the props, we are guessing travel.  In beautiful shades the illustrative backdrop is punctuated with these showcases containing their product.  Thankfully there are some interesting schemes out there which lift the spirit in these worrying times.

Salvatore Ferragamo, London

Thankfully there are still some brands out there putting the 'Art' back into windows and Salvatore Ferragamo have got rid of their generic window fixtures and injected some much needed interest into their schemes.  Mannequins used as props and covered in the same design as the backdrop in Black and White against White with Black.  Given that the rents on this street have sky rocketed its quite amazing that these brands can even maintain a presence here.  We are thankful that they still do.

Moncler, London

The props at Moncler are always so superb, aren't they?  Thankfully, while most mid-range brands are in Sale right now (and therefore we have nothing to show you on that front) we can of course rely on luxury brands to give us what we look for.  With their space themed installation and these amazing little spacemen dangling from chrome hoops in a gravitational format it is a relief that at least some brands are putting some energy into their window schemes.
