Nike, London

If you are a fan of this brand then you will be familiar with Air Max day.  This year the original Air Max turned a whopping 30 and to celebrate Nike commission the fabulous team at www.millingtonassociates.com to bring this amazing concept to life.  This explosion of colour has turned Nike into an air bubble tribute to the iconic sneaker with bubble topped plinths and large scale graphic backdrops.  If you want an unforgettable retail experience then look no further.

Dolce and Gabbana, Milan

To say that there are a few Dolce and Gabbana stores here in Milan would be an understatement.  There appears to be a store for this brand on just about every corner on the high street here and if that wasn't enough you can also go eat at there fantastic restaurant Bar Martini which is a particular treat for sure.  We have and it is incredible.  With their launderette inspired scheme for their D&G family brand extension this one is quite a corker.

Here at Fred Perry in conjunction with www.harlequin-design.com British graffiti Artist Pegasus pays tribute to the legacy of Amy Winehouse with her exclusive Rose design.  The fantastic team at Harlequin design applied the stencils designed by Pegasus wrapping them around plinths in store and as in the the window image above to the fenestration.  Great to see Winehouse's legacy out there on the high street.

Car Shoe, Milan

We've often wondered how many variations on the car theme that this brand will manage to come up with and we are always quite pleasantly surprised at their ingenuity.  Using Silver model cars in a repetition and zigzag format which form the backdrop to the product this scheme certainly grabbed our attention while here in Milan.

Hermes, Milan

Another key trend around town here in Milan is 'Woven Sensualism' (our name for it) which we have seen a vast amount of particularly at Salone.  As regular readers know we do tend to gush at the sight of an Hermes scheme and this one of course, in true style represents not only what is happening here but of course is exceptional in its execution.

Fabiana Filippi, Milan

We've noticed a big trend towards urban gardens on our travels around Milan, particularly the tropical variety but also in this case a micro garden.  Milan seems to be embracing the concept of sustainable living in a big way and with their strap line 'A Green house is for a Green heart' is right on trend.  OK, Green home is for a Green heart' may not translate very well but we're sure you get the idea.

Zara Home, Milan

By pure coincidence we happened upon this launch event at Zara Home here in Milan and the team here very kindly allowed us access passed the velvet ropes and Red carpet in order to capture some of the installations within the interior.  We have never seen Zara Home looking so interesting and with this window scheme by Simon Costin and its a welcomed relief from the kind of thing we would normally expect to see.

iblues, Milan

This is another brand we are unfamiliar with although its making quite a statement on the high street here in Milan.  Aimed at 'a young, bold and curious woman, who is receptive to the world of fashion' the scheme here certainly communicates this clearly.  Their website however isn't quite as much fun although perhaps decide this for yourself.

Marella, Milan

We have never seen this brand before but wow what an amazing scheme and great to see them make such an enormous effort.  With cartoon-like spectacles and an origami backdrop with a nod to the tropical in colours which zing along with the product this is quite a corker of a scheme.  Go and check them out if you can.

La Rinascente, Milan

We're in Milan for a while checking out what is happening in Visual Merchandising and there really are some treats coming soon to show you all.  We begin of course with the amazing La Rinascente in Duomo and the centre of it all.  Paolo Pivi's 'I'm tired of eating fish', curated by Cloe Piccoli fills the windows at this amazing department store, showing eight Bears each with its own name and which represent a 'fantastic wider narrative set in infinite time and unspecified context',  If you happen to be here in Milan do go and check out this work.

In celebration of the recent International Women's day the fabulous Fenwicks and Lights of Soho collaborated with the team at www.millingtonassociates.com to create 'Women of Neon' which is an Art installation curated by Alexa Pearson and celebrates both up and coming and established female neon Artists creating Art.  The installation explores the darkness of human life, existence and emotion using visual puns, bawdy humour (we like that) and commentary on human identity.  Just check out those peep holes...!
